Trae Martin Trae Martin 6'8" | PF Brooks DeBartolo | 2021 State FL | 6-9 | Brooks DeBartolo
The senior forward made an impact on the floor every time he touched it. On the rebounding glass, he was tough to keep away from snatching boards from every direction. His motor is high, and never seemed to take a play off. If the ball is loose, he has no problem diving on the ground to hold onto the possession. Loved his display of post moves on-the-block. Martin uses his frame well in an effort to earn slams in the paint. Keep an eye out for his final season.
Ebenezer Ogoh | 6-10 | Admiral Farragut
This 2022 big man gave a high amount of energy throughout the day, predominantly on the defensive end. His ability to rebound over opponents the same height as him couldn’t be ignored. The way he was able to keep his hands active, frustrate ball-handlers, and force steals was top-tier. Most of his scoring came in the paint, and he hustled for every point. Farragut has an active one in Ogoh.
Michael Blake | 6-2 | Countryside
Blake demonstrated his hustle in the way he was able to battle for tough scores in the painted area. He’s an aggressive dribbler—not in the sense that he beats the air out the ball, but more in how he dribbled to create separation, and controlled the rock on the way to the rim. This also set him up to hit some tough floaters, in-transition. Excited to hear how he impacts Countryside during his senior campaign.
Denzel Luna | 6-2 | Timber Creek
I know I mentioned Luna in a previous story, but he deserves it for this category. I’ll say it again: Luna was the most vocal hooper at the entire Expo. If he missed a layup, he did what it took to get his own rebounds and putbacks. Luna can hit the trey-ball. He can finish with contact, and around taller defenders. The senior guard can take you to the hole with ease, and never appeared to lack in energy.
Christian Girandola | 6-1 | Northeast
Going into his junior season, Girandola should be considered as a top-three option for his team, this year. Not only can he hit the deep three, he also doesn’t give up plays on the defensive end. If his opponents are out running in-transition, Girandola showed the speed it takes to get a chase-down steal and thwart an easy score. His energy will pay dividends for Northeast, this year.
