After our series of articles on the Class of 2021 who should be valued, we now shift our attention to those in the Class of 2022 and those that need to be on the radar of college coaches.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these juniors the attention of prospective college coaches.
Lucas Lorenzen Lucas Lorenzen 6'4" | SF Okoboji | 2022 State IA – Okoboji
In the Siouxland Conference last year, not many players did it better than Lucas Lorenzen Lucas Lorenzen 6'4" | SF Okoboji | 2022 State IA .
The talented Class of 2022 prospect from Okoboji averaged 22.5 points and 12 rebounds per game for the Pioneers, leading them to 14 wins.
Lorenzen shot almost 53 percent from the field, 44 percent from the three-point line and 75 percent at the free throw stripe. He finished the season with 541 points, 229 rebounds, 30 assists and 27 steals.
Tanner Te Slaa Tanner Te Slaa 6'5" | SF Boyden-Hull | 2022 State IA – Boyden-Hull
Boyden-Hull is quite the basketball factory, and Class of 2022 standout Tanner Te Slaa Tanner Te Slaa 6'5" | SF Boyden-Hull | 2022 State IA is the latest to come out of the school.
Te Slaa completed his sophomore campaign with 413 points, 128 rebounds, 61 assists and 37 steals. He helped the Comets claim the Class 2A state title with a victory over North Linn in the finals.
On the year, Te Slaa averaged over 17 points a game, shooting 53 percent from the field and 46 percent from the three-point line.
Jaxon Meyer Jaxon Meyer 6'4" | PF West Lyon | 2022 State IA – West Lyon
When it came to dominating inside the paint, not many did it better than West Lyon’s Jaxon Meyer Jaxon Meyer 6'4" | PF West Lyon | 2022 State IA .
A Class of 2022 prospect, Meyer scored 293 points with 174 rebounds in 25 games. He shot 52 percent from the field and over 61 percent at the charity stripe, as all but four of his shot attempts came from inside the three-point line.
Meyer also had 27 steals, 18 assists and blocked 16 shots for the Wildcats.
Bryson Van Grootheest Bryson Van Grootheest 6'0" | CG Rock Valley | 2022 State IA – Rock Valley
A more than capable scorer, Rock Valley’s Bryson Van Grootheest Bryson Van Grootheest 6'0" | CG Rock Valley | 2022 State IA also was effective finding the open teammate.
The Class of 2022 guard scored 271 points last season, dishing out 99 assists. He also collected 72 rebounds and recorded 45 steals, shooting almost 50 percent from the floor with 28 made three-pointers.
Sam Remmerde Sam Remmerde 6'3" | PF Rock Valley | 2022 State IA – Rock Valley
Pairing up with classmate Bryson Van Grootheest Bryson Van Grootheest 6'0" | CG Rock Valley | 2022 State IA , Sam Remmerde Sam Remmerde 6'3" | PF Rock Valley | 2022 State IA had a sophomore season in which he tallied 216 points, 137 rebounds, 27 assists and 21 steals.
The Rockets went 15-8 a year ago, reaching a Class 2A substate quarterfinal.
Remmerde led the team with six rebounds per game as they finished third in the conference. He shot nearly 49 percent from the field and buried 11 three-pointers.
