Here is the San Antonio Rankings: Top 2021 Centers
#1 – Jerrell Colbert Jerrell Colbert 6'10" | C Houston | 2021 State #56 Nation TN (6-10) – Wagner
One of the top players in the state of Texas, Colbert is a monster in the paint on both ends of the court. Colbert has great length and a college-ready frame, and his play with Cornerstone Christian as a junior and during the grassroots circuit this summer was nothing short of impressive. On defense, he uses his terrific length to his advantage as a shot blocker and rim protector. On offense, Colbert is very active in the paint where he has several post moves to go to. Not to mention he is a powerful dunker and can be a big-time threat in the pick-and-roll game. Colbert holds offers from some of the top D1 programs across the country and is committed to play college ball for LSU.
#2 – Caleb McCrackin (6-9) – Harlan
A huge body and big frame, McCrackin is hard to get around and get a shot up on in the paint. His best skill to date is his shot-blocking ability, where he has great instincts and is able to get his hand on a ball several times a game. His presence in the paint was a huge benefit to Harlan’s defense last year, and he will look to continue this upcoming season as he improves his offensive game. What makes McCrackin special as a prospect is the combination of his size and defensive skill set. Not many players in the San Antonio area has the size McCrackin does, and he will be a player to watch closely during his senior season at Harlan.
#3 – Josh Alcocer (6-7) – O’Connor
Alcocer is a tall and thin center prospect who has a potentially high ceiling due to his all-out effort on defense and outside shooting ability. During his junior season at O’Connor, Alcocer put up 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, but increased playing time during his upcoming senior season could see big results. Alcocer does a good job at help-side defense and protecting the rim, while also getting his hands up without fouling. Most of his offensive game is done in the paint and on the block, but occasionally he can step out and hit a shot from beyond-the-arc. Alcocer is raw as a prospect, but also just scratching the surface of his potential.
#4 – Dominic Davila (6-5) – Floresville
Davila is a bulldog on the court and plays relentlessly in the paint. Has great strength and a good base for a post player. Davila plays physical on the block and is a tenacious rebounder, where he does a good job of boxing out opponents. He can finish with either hand at the basket and is quick to put up second-chance opportunities. Was a double-double machine during his junior season. Davila is also a dual-sport athlete where he plays tight end and defensive end for the Floresville football team. Earned All-District 28-5A First Team & Offensive Player of the Year / TABC 5A Region 4 All-Region Team
#5 – Reid Higgins (6-6) – Boerne Champion
Higgins is a solid center prospect who consistently flirts with double-double territory each game. During his junior season with Boerne-Champion, Higgins averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. He stands strong in the paint on defense and does a good job of getting his hands on the ball for blocks and deflections. Is a terrific rebounder who uses his body positioning well to box out opponents. Higgins broke Champion’s record for offensive rebounds (109) and rebound average (7.3) in a single season. Earned All-District 26-5A Second Team
