After our series of articles on the Class of 2021 who should be valued, we now shift our attention to those in the Class of 2022 and those that need to be on the radar of college coaches.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these juniors the attention of prospective college coaches.
Sam Wilt Sam Wilt 6'2" | SF Anamosa | 2022 State IA – Anamosa
One of the top scorers in the RIver Valley Conference, Anamosa’s Sam Wilt Sam Wilt 6'2" | SF Anamosa | 2022 State IA finished last year with 344 points, averaging almost 16 per game to lead the Blue Raiders.
Wilt, a Class of 2022 standout, shot almost 48 percent from the field and over 37 percent from deep, burying 49 three-pointers in all. He also recorded 166 rebounds, 81 assists, 55 blocks and 53 steals for Anamosa.
Colby Sieverding – Bellevue
Bellevue’s Colby Sieverding averaged a team-high 11 points per game as a sophomore, shooting the ball at almost 40 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep.
Sieverding made a team-best 42 three-pointers, finishing with 248 points, 61 rebounds, 24 assists and 20 steals.
Zach Erwin Zach Erwin 6'6" | SF Camanche | 2022 State IA – Camanche
Nearly a third of Zach Erwin Zach Erwin 6'6" | SF Camanche | 2022 State IA ’s rebounds came on the offensive glass, as the Camanche Class of 2022 prospect finished his sophomore season with 245 points and 125 boards.
A total of 41 of those were on the offensive end, as Erwin shot over 51 percent from the field for the Indians. He also buried 13 three-pointers and recorded 74 assists, 41 steals and 30 blocks.
Carter Harmsen – Mid-Prairie
Even as a sophomore, Mid-Prairie’s Carter Harmsen showed the skills to take control of games.
Harmsen accounted for 270 points last year, leading the Golden Hawks at 12 points per game. He shot over 44 percent from the floor and 36 percent from the three-point line, adding 100 rebounds, 20 assists, 18 steals and 10 blocks.
He was also solid from the free throw stripe, making 79 percent of his 70 attempts.
Jackson Hull – Wilton
Scoring and rebounding were what Jackson Hull provided for Wilton last year, and the Class of 2022 prospect has the talent to do that and more this season.
Hull scored 195 points last year, grabbing 122 rebounds including 99 on the defensive end. He also had 42 assists and 39 steals, shooting 42 percent from the field with 19 made three-pointers for the Beavers.
