“I think Ahjany had very productive summer. He was able to work on expanding his set, his shooting really improved, being able to play against some of the best players in the state helped boost his confidence a great deal. I think overall he’s only begun to scratch the surface of his talent,” D1 MN Prospects Coach Tracy Culp said.
The 6-foot-9 Lee is one of the most athletic big men around and he is likely the top big man prospect in Minnesota’s junior class. He’s also one of the state’s hardest workers.
“This summer I worked on many different aspects of my individual game such as; my shooting form, release point, touch, and follow through,” Lee said. “I also worked on ball handling, working out of my comfort zone scoring at different areas of the court, footwork, and different moves and counter moves to enhance my personal growth.”
Throughout the summer Lee heard from a number of schools. Minnesota, Iowa, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Ohio State, Northern Iowa, Utah State, Princeton, George Washington, San Diego, and Richmond are among the schools that have called and stayed in contact. The latest offer is from Minnesota.
“I am very excited for the opportunity Ahjany has been given by the University of Minnesota,” Byron Coach Kyle Finney said. “He’s just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. One of the most athletic big men around.”
“I am blessed to have received an offer from my home state college U of M,” Lee explained. “Excited about the opportunity and learning more about U of M as I continue to work hard toward my goals I want to achieve.”
Lee has narrowed down his college focus to three areas he would like to study once he lands at a school.
“I’ve put a lot of thought into a potential major and I’ve narrowed it down to three: biology, chemistry, or neurology,” Lee explained.
