With the rosters set and games to start this weekend, let’s take a look at some players to be on the look out for this fall.
Trayon Grant-Foster, 6’4 Guard, Washington High School
An athletic guard with a great wing-span, Grant-Foster is a competitive player who is is getting better the more he plays and learns the game. He is a talented passer with great handle from the guard spot who will help elevate his teammates. Shows a great ability to attack the rim and uses his length and athleticism to force defenders to play out of position. Grant-Foster posses the athletic ability and motor to guard multiple guard and wing positions.
Harrison Braudis Harrison Braudis 6'1" | PG Stillwell | 2021 State KS , 6’1 Guard, Bishop Miege:
Braudis takes the mold of an all around floor general at the point guard spot. He commands respect on the floor and influences games in multiple ways. He passes guys open, hits guys in rhythm for jump shots, and makes great reads in transition. Braudis gets into the lane and is effective once he is there. His ability to finish in the paint through contact makes him a difficult person to guard, because if teams help off, Braudis makes the right pass but if he is left to score one on one, he is attacking with great efficiency.
Blake Potthoff, 6′ G, Shawnee Mission South
A great shooter, Potthoff has the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter both off the bounce and on catch and shoot situations. He does a great job of coming off screens, getting himself on balance to shoot off the catch or attack closeouts. Uses his body well to get to his spots on the court to shoot pull up jumpers.
Rex Robinette, 6′ G, Maranantha Christian Academy
Rex is an overall athlete at the Guard spot and uses his athleticism to his advantage on both offense and defense. On offense he attacks the rim and finishes well with both hands and keeps defenses honest with his ability to knock down jump shots. On defense he can contain other guards and keep them from getting paint touches on drives and can pressure up near the halfcourt line to keep teams from running offense.
Jack Hutchinson Jack Hutchinson 6'1" | CG Washburn Rural | 2021 State KS , 5’11 G, Washburn Rural High School
One of the headiest guards in the Centennial League, Hutchinson is a high IQ player. He is extremely tough on court and is never backing down on the defensive end. He is a terrific 3 point shooter, especially on kick outs and in transition. Hutchinson has complemented his 3 point shooting by developing a pure floater over the last Grassroot and High School season.
Luke Williams Luke Williams 6'0" | PG Olathe South | 2021 State KS , 5′ 10 PG, Olathe South
Williams is a smooth guard who plays with a swagger to his game. In transition, he is looking to get down hill and does a great job of putting pressure on defenses. He has a wide variety of finishes on drives and has nice touch off the glass. In the half court, he is effective at playing off of ball screens getting into the lane and making plays either for himself or his teammates. Playing in the gaps and help side on defense is where he stands out on that end of the floor, using active hands to get pass deflections and steals.
