This has been a great representation of some of the great young talent Minnesota has to offer. Be on the lookout for the rest of my coverage of this league over the next coming weeks!
Emmett Olson 9th Grade 5’9 Mankato West .High School 2024
Emmett is a crafty and athletic player who plays with great energy and is a true all-around weapon on the basketball court. He has good energy and plays with great hustle to chase down loose balls, contest shots and grab long rebounds. He is incredible with ball fakes, getting defenders to commit hard and opens driving lanes for himself. His ability to put the defense on tis heels and force them to react makes him a complete offensive weapon. He is fearless with his shot selection, shooting well off the bounce in the midrange and behind the arc. He is aggressive as he drives to the hole, but I would like to see more off hand work, and not just with his finishing but also passing and ball handling ability.
Leyton Kerns 9th Grade 5’11 Shakopee High School 2024
Leyton is a wing with great potential, he can knock down shots from deep off a live dribble or off the catch. He is a necessary floor spacer in today’s game and forces his opponents to come out hard to contest him, opening driving lanes for his teammates and himself. I would like to see him continue to develop his finishing ability around the rim, as well as his confidence and fearlessness when attacking the basket. He has all the tools to affect the game every time he steps on the court.
Jakhi Richmond 8th Grade 5’2 Skyview Middle School 2025
Jakhi is a sharpshooting guard who thrives at moving without the basketball. He is great at moving along the baseline within the flow of the offense, and always seems to be open when his teammates need to be bailed out. He is a real weapon with the ball in his hands, having his head up to create for his teammates and delivers accurate pocket passes that always seem to be on time.
Zac Lorenson 7th Grade 5’7 CMS/Eden Prairie 2026
Zac is a long athlete who moves very well for his size and age. He was tasked with defending the best offensive weapon on the opposing team and had success shutting him down. He is an aware player who sees plays develop before they happen. He is great in the passing lanes and knows when to attack in the open court. He is a dominant force when running the fast break and can seemingly score over anyone when going downhill. He always seems to make the best reads within the flow of the offense.
Martavion Wilson 6th Grade 5’6 Wayzata Central
Martavion has great size and speed, he loves to play downhill with energy and put pressure on the defense in the paint. He is an impressive force and scores well in the lane. He has some crafty finishes that he uses to score over bigger defenders, and knows when to put his head down and put his weight into his smaller defender and score over and through them.
