Defense: Lloyd is a solid defender for the Tigers due to his ability to move his feet well, and his relative size. He has a great wingspan that he uses to routinely jump through passing lanes and he can also use his size to contest guards on the perimeter without needing to over pressure. Lloyd is not the fastest player on the court by any stretch of the imagination, but he makes up for that aspect of his game by having excellent defensive footwork. He rarely opens up his hips to allow players to drive past and he is solid at keeping his man in front. Against posts, Mikey has proven himself to be a worthy cover as he battles with his body and can contest any shot that a post tries to shoot over the top of him. He is a solid rebounder that boxes out before attempting to grab a board.
Offense: Mikey is a great offensive player for the Tigers and his greatest strength is found in his jump shot. Lloyd has extended range and consistently knocks down at least a handful of three’s per game. He has a smooth release and the ability to shoot from anywhere on the court which makes him very tough to cover. His jumper is quick and he can get hot in a hurry. If he does not shoot the jumper, Lloyd likes to utilize a shot fake to get the defender off balance before driving past into a pull-up, or taking the ball all the way to the rim for a finish with either hand. Lloyd also passes the ball well and likes to put his teammates in greater positions to score.
Overall: Overall, Mikey is a very solid ball player and will continue to improve in his final two seasons at Jerome as long as he stays in the gym. His size makes him a solid defender who can guard both the post and the perimeter. On offense, he has a deadly jumper that has to be respected and makes him a constant scoring threat.
