In the upcoming season, Driggs will look to lead the Thunder Ridge Titans to a run at the district tournament and a state appearance. The Titans will look to Lloyer for a lot of help this season after graduating a handful of seniors that contributed big minutes and points. Continue reading for a breakdown of Lloyer’s skills on both ends of the floor.
Defense: Driggs is an underrated defender that surprises most of his opponents. Most look at Driggs and assume that he is a lackluster defender who only cares about offense. This is not true as Lloyer has proven his ability to be a great on-ball defender and he is also a high IQ player when away from the ball. He is consistently in the correct help position and makes great reads to grab steals on cross-court passes. In the post, Lloyer fights to get around and front the taller players and uses his body to push them out of the paint. On ball, Driggs has solid hands and quick reactions which allow him to cut off opposing guards before they can attack the rim or get an open look at the hoop. For his size, Lloyer rebounds fairly well and likes to grab boards so that he can transition to the offensive end.
Offense: Lloyer is a great offensive player with a deep bag of tricks. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to shoot from deep and it is rare to see him play a game where he only knocks down one or two triples. He has a quick release and can shoot off the dribble or on the catch making him a tough cover. Further, Driggs is an excellent driver and can get into the paint with ease. He likes to use both hands to finish at the rim and loves to draw contact from the defenders, allowing him to get to the free throw line. Driggs scores a lot of his points at the charity stripe and likes to get himself going through easy buckets. If he is being covered and cannot finish at the rim or get off a shot, Lloyer has great vision and can pass very well to cutters or the open perimeter player.
Overall: Lloyer is a solid go-to guard for Thunder Ridge and they will look to him a lot this season. He is a solid defender that can hold his own against any player in the state. On offense, he thrives when he is allowed to create his own shots and shoot as many shots as he feels he needs. Lloyer will be a great scorer at the next level.
