He will try to lead the Lake City Timberwolves back to the state championships this year for a shot at the 5A title. Last season, the Timberwolves reached the state tournament, but fell in an early round. Kiesbuy will look to lead the Timberwolves this season as a senior and with his scoring ability. Continue reading for an in-depth look at Jack’s skills and abilities on both ends of the floor.
Defense: Kiesbuy has great size at 6’5″ and has long arms that allow him to play in passing lanes. He likes to distance himself from offensive players to give himself an extra step while still contesting shots with an outstretched hand. Kiesbuy often gets stuck guarding opposing bigs and is strong enough to push them off of the block and tall enough to contest their attempts at finding the rim. Jack has solid hands and quick reactions which allow him to guard well on the perimeter and he overpowers smaller guards. He rebounds very well and crashes the board each possession looking for opportunities to start the offense on the other end.
Offense: Jack is an offensive force who can score from all places on the floor. He has a beautiful left handed jumper that he gets off easily with his high release. He can shoot off the dribble or catch and shoot and can shoot from way beyond the perimeter. Lake City loves to run sets that allow Jack to run off of multiple screens before catching and shooting on the move. Kiesbuy also likes to get into a pull-up mid-range once he feels that the defender is off balance and he can rise over them. Jack is not afraid to get physical in the post and he has great patience and footwork when working from the block. Finally, Jack can get to the rim and finish with either hand in traffic which allows him to score easy baskets and get to the free throw line as well.
Overall: Kiesbuy is an excellent wing that will lead Lake City next season. He is a solid defender with great size and a physical presence in the paint. On offense, Kiesbuy is a deadly threat at all levels and has the ability to score in bunches. I would expect to see Kiesbuy increase his scoring load this season and step into more of a leadership role for the Timberwolves. Jack would make a great 2/3 at the next level.
