Continue ReadingEaston Durham is a 6’0″ point guard from the class of 2021. As a three sport athlete at Highland, Durham will look to lead the Rams in the upcoming season to a run at the state title after competing hard in the district tournament. The Rams will look to Durham for lots of leadership this season and will rely on his ability to score and defend as they approach this season. Continue reading for a breakdown of Easton’s all-around game from all aspects.
Defense: Durham is a solid defender for the Highland Rams. He is a strong player who likes to use his body to stop opposing players from maneuvering around him and gaining any sort of scoring advantage. Against other guards, Easton has a great reaction time which allows him to keep opposing players in front of him and he also has very good hands that let him pick the ball from guards who do not handle well. Against bigs, Durham plays hard and routinely gets physical with opposing players on the block. He is strong enough to push posts away from the hoop and into tougher shots. Durham rebounds well for his position and is able to secure rebounds before starting the break.
Offense: Easton is an excellent offensive player with tremendous potential and upside. Currently, Durham plays three sports at Highland and his athletic ability separates him from the rest of the league. His quickness allows him to blow past defenders and his strength allows him to finish through contact once he reaches the paint. He is a knockdown free throw shooter and loves to draw contact so that he can get to the line for easy points. Durham also has a solid jump shot, but he prefers to drive to the hoop. Easton does well on offense in all aspects, and if he devoted himself solely to basketball, his work ethic would allow him to excel at whatever he set his mind towards.
Overall: Durham is an exceptional athletic talent with a ton of potential. He is a solid defender that likes to use his body to control the offensive player and he is a capable offensive player with the ability to score at will from anywhere on the floor. His physical and athletic presence make him a constant threat on the court and he has the ability to make plays. I would expect his scoring and leadership roles to increase this season for the Highland Rams.
