Angelo Kambala 5’11 PG Coronado 2023 (#5PHN 2023) – Kambala showed terrific lateral quickness when defending on ball. He competes with high energy on the defensive end and is capable of turning defenders multiple times.
Darrell Morris 5’8 PG Renaissance Academy 2024 – Morris was a pest on the ball. He was able to stay with ballhandlers and showed quick hands getting deflections and on ball steals.
David Burnham 6’0 CG Summit 2023 – Burnham really competes on the defensive end. Always around the ball the 6 foot combo is a good help defender and shows a good ability to recover if beaten by his opponents first step.
Josiah Johnson 5’9 PG Sheldon 2023 – Johnson played well on both sides of the ball throughout the weekend. However, it was his defense that really stood out. He pursues the basketball, and had a bunch of steals. He’s deceptively quick with the ability to stay in front of even the shiftiest of PG’s.
Ahmaree McCullough 5’10 PG Saint Joseph 2023 (featured image) – Elite on ball defender. McCullough is a tempo changing PG that makes coaches uneasy whenever their players are handling against him. Great lateral quickness, combined with lighting quick hands, McCullough had a ton of straight up thefts, and forced turnovers. Max effort player that was 1st to the floor on every loose ball.
Khaman Maker 7’1 C Desert Valley Prep 2024 – Maker was the most dominant defensive player at the camp. Obviously his size and length played a huge factor, but it also was his sheer willingness to challenge every shot. He blocked shots from the weakside, and when defending man to man.
Malachi Roberts 6’6 SF Yamhill – Carlton 2023 – Roberts is a pretty versatile defender. He can switch and hedge ball screens, provide some rim protection and defend his position. The 6’6 wing did a good job of staying in front, and then finished the possession with a fundamental high hand close out.
