It also featured several under the radar prospects. In this article we take a look at some of the top sleepers from the camp.
Tylen Riley Tylen Riley 6'2" | CG Durango | 2023 State NV 6’0 CG Durango (NV) 2023 (#25PHN 2023) – I was really impressed by Riley this weekend. He’s like a home run hitter in baseball where each at bat ends up with the ball either going over the fence, or in the the catcher’s glove. In his case it’s either a turnover or a bucket, however I can live with that from a young player considering he’s gets a lot of it back on the defensive end. Big time competitor willing to take the challenge of the opposing teams best perimeter ballhandler.
Luke Hladky 5’9 PG Campbell County (WV) 2021 (featured image) – If he was 6’0 tall this would be a different conversation. Hladky is a high IQ player with a quick trigger and unlimited range. Was one of the best overall shooters at the Camp. When defenders attempted to take advantage of his size, he responded by moving his feet and using quick hands to deflect and disrupt drivers. Type a player that I could see leading a NAIA or D2 conference in 3pt shooting.
Christian Bento Christian Bento 6'11" | C Bishop Gorman | 2021 NV 6’11 C Bishop Gorman 2021 (#38PHN 2021) – It’s rare that we think of 7 footers as sleepers, however Bento fits that description to a T. Was extremely raw 12 months ago, now he’s simply raw. Showed improved mobility and surprising strength finishing through contact. With his size and length, I have to believe he can provide value to someone’s program at the D1 level.
Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT 6’0 PG Cyprus (UT) 2023 (#30PHU 2023) – Get used to this because Meza probably won’t be making to many Sleepers list in the future. The young guard has an advanced game. Reminds me of a young Bobby Hurley, with his ability to stop on a dime and pull up in transition for 3. Plays with a confidence that belies his youth.
Jayden Morris 5’9 PG Sacramento (CA) 2022 – Morris was playing on a team that featured 3 guys from the same high school. You would have thought he was the 4th. The diminutive PG fit in perfectly. Getting to the lane with the ball in his hand, and showing the ability to space the floor when it wasn’t.
Tre Valeriano III 5’11 PG Pius XI (WI) 2021 (#46PHW 2021) – Valeriano was one of the best two way players at the camp. Was a dog on the defensive end, showing the ability to put pressure on even the quickest of ballhandlers. Offensively he combine good slashing ability with the knack for making open jumpers. The PG from Wisconsin does have an offer from Cleveland St, however performances like this may peak more interest.
Brayden Carter 6’7 PF J.K Mullen (CO) 2021 (#12PHC 2021) – Currently Carter has offers from CSU Pueblo and St Martin’s in Washington. The 6’7 Forward showed that he can step out and knock down 3’s and put the ball on the floor if needed. His best attribute was his R&J athleticism combined with his fearlessness attacking the rim.
