Some of the top high school players in the country took part in the event, including many from Southern California.
Here’s a look at some more of the local SoCal players who took part in the event.
1. Blake Lander Blake Lander 6'4" | SF Beverly Hills | 2021 State CA-S – Beverly Hills 2021
Blake is a good perimeter defender who puts forth the effort a lot of players don’t on that end. He anticipates passes and comes up with steals. He contests shots well and applies pressure on ball-handlers. He makes a lot of hustle plays and follows misses for offensive rebounds. He’s an athletic finisher at the rim. Good shooter from midrange and from the three-point line.
2. Blaine Lander – Beverly Hills 2021
Blake’s twin brother, Blaine is a good shooter in the midrange. That 15 to 18 foot jump shot is his bread and butter. He can shoot off the dribble too and hit step backs over defenders. He can step out and shoot from three as well. Like his brother, he is also a good perimeter defender. He can fight through screens and he can keep up with players attacking the rim.
3. Josh Steinberg – Portola 2021
Steinberg is solid in transition. He keeps his head up while dribbling and can read the defense well. Knows when to pass to a teammate running with him and when to hold onto the ball and finish the play himself. He’s explosive off the dribble and can turn the corner quickly on his way to the rim. Good vision and crafty passer.
4. Jaden Goodall – Canyon 2024
Goodall has a solid stroke from three-point range. Spots up well and can get his shot off before the defense is able to close out. When he is being guarded and forced off the three-point line, he can put the ball on the floor and make plays. He moves well without the ball, sprints ahead of the defense in transition and acts as the roll man in pick and roll situations.
