Some of the top high school players in the country took part in the event, including many from Southern California.
Here’s a look at some more of the local SoCal players who took part in the event.
1. Mister Burnside – Paraclete 2024
Burnside is an incoming freshman, and a talented one at that. He has solid footwork offensively. He can draw contact in the lane and get himself to the free-throw line. He’s got an explosive first step and takes the ball strong to the basket. He can shoot from distance and he can shoot with defenders in his face. Strong frame for a guard.
2. Christian Griffin – Bishop Amat 2022
Griffin is a strong slasher. He can get past his defender and get to the rim. He can finish with a runner or he can get all the way to the rim for a layup. Makes the right decision in transition, keep his head up while dribbling and can find the open teammate. Good ball-handler who can dribble well under defensive pressure.
3. Kristopher Krause – Bishop Montgomery 2022
Krause is a very good shooter from three-point range with great form on his jumper. He has a very quick release and can get his shot off with defenders rushing at him. Gets to his spots on the arc and squares up well. Applies pressure on the ball defensively and contests shots well. Reads passing lanes and can deflect passes to start fast break.
4. Jack McCloskey Jack McCloskey 6'3" | CG Santa Margarita | 2022 State CA-S – Santa Margarita 2022
McCloskey is another sniper from three-point range. He is very adept at moving without the ball. He can slide along the baseline and pop out to hit the corner three. He gets out in transition after a defensive rebound and sprints ahead of the defense. He can also handle the ball on the break and finish strong at the rim.
