Continue ReadingWith high school basketball pushed back in many states, various grassroots event have been taking place across the country. One of the biggest of these events, the Pangos All West Camp took place this past weekend in Utah.
Some of the top high school players in the country took part in the event, including many from Southern California.
Here’s a look at some more of the local SoCal players who took part in the event.
1. Jeremiah Whitmore Jeremiah Whitmore 6'6" | PF Fountain Valley | 2023 CA-S – Corona Centennial 2023
Whitmore is very athletic and very strong. He has good length for a wing. Can finish strong around the rim. Long armed defensive player. He contests shots in the paint, he’s a shot blocker who alters a lot of shots in the paint. Good man to man defender and good help defender. Can get out and run in transition and can handle the ball on the break. Good rebounder, active around the rim. Gets offensive put backs.
2. Jackon Hopps – Mater Dei 2022
Hopps has a good midrange game; he can create off the bounce. Very effective in that mid post area. Can hit pull-up jumpers and can shoot off the dribble. Good shooter from three-point range. Can move well without the ball; makes cuts to the rim or spots up from three. Reads passing lanes and can get out in transition.
3. Kristian Jemerson Kristian Jemerson 6'4" | SF Fairmont Prep | 2022 State CA-S – Fairmont Prep 2022
Jemerson is quick off the dribble; can get all the way the rim. Very athletic especially in transition. Can create his own offense. Good size for a wing. Can finish strong at the rim around defenders and can hit pull-up jumpers in transition. Has size and length to be good defense wing player. Active on the glass. Uses his body well around the rim.
4. Terrance Ramirez Terrance Ramirez 6'0" | PG Grapevine | 2020 CA-S – Fairmont Prep 2022
Ramirez is a transfer from Grapevine, TX. He can properly utilize a jump stop. Creative scorer. He has a nice little stop and pop game and a solid pull-up jumper. Can accelerate off the dribble and blow by defenders to rim. Quick first step; can get past defenders easily. Uses body to shield himself from contact in the paint. Nice little runner. Can shoot off dribble.
5. Kot Malou Kot Malou 6'7" | SF Renaissance Academy | 2023 CA-S – Renaissance Academy 2023
-Malou is a very versatile player for his size; good skill set. Can handle the ball in transition. Good defensive player with a lot of length. Can guard multiple positions on defense. Great shooter from distance, spots up well from 3 or can shoot off bounce. Can finish strong at the rim. He is a good passer, especially in half court sets.
