Here are a few guys who moved up the rankings:
Zander Albers Zander Albers 6'5" | PF Bismarck Legacy | 2022 State ND , Bismarck Legacy
Albers enjoyed a strong sophomore year with Bismarck Legacy, averaging better than nine points and six rebounds for a Sabers team that was competitive in the WDA. The skill is there for him to be a matchup nightmare for teams, as he’s 6-foot-5 with the ball skills to shoot and make plays but also the mobility and motor to rebound and produce in the paint.
Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND , Fargo Davies
Motschenbacher didn’t see much varsity time as a sophomore but there’s no doubt that he’s got the ability to be one of the best point guards in the 2022 class. He’s a skilled long-range shooter who can get hot and he’s a heady playmaker who does a good job balancing looking for his own offense with facilitating. This winter will be a big opportunity for him as he’ll presumably have the keys in the Eagles’ offense.
Michael Nhial Michael Nhial 6'7" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND , West Fargo Sheyenne
Nhial saw mop up minutes with the Mustangs as a sophomore but showed over the summer that there are some serious tools in his proverbial box. He’s 6-foot-6 with a solid frame, and the athletic tools to play on the perimeter. He’s got a solid perimeter jumper and showed flashes over the summer of some off-the-dribble juice. What position does he play? If he can play a true wing role, he could have a monster year for the Mustangs.
Parker Nelson Parker Nelson 5'11" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State ND , West Fargo
Nelson looked like a player ready to take a big step forward in his upperclass seasons during the summer with ECI. He’s a grinder on the defensive end of the floor and while he’s not real tall, he plays with great energy and smarts on that end of the floor. He’s a good long-range shooter who also has the burst to make plays as a complementary ballhandler.
Jayden Yankton Jayden Yankton 6'1" | SG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2022 State ND , Four Winds/Minnewaukan
Yankton’s been a key cog for the Indians each of the last two years and he’s shown a little more on each end of the floor each year. Don’t be surprised if he breaks out even further as an upperclassman and contends for an all-state spot. He’s a terrific defender who can put pressure on the ball and the passing lanes and his ability to shoot it and create for himself off the dribble makes him one of the best guards in his class.
