With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top guards in Region 5

Luke Wanzeck, Shiloh Christian

Shiloh Christian is losing a big chunk of its core from a year ago, which means there’s going to be a lot of shots and opportunity for guys to step up. Wanzeck started last year and was a key rotation guy who showed he can score in complementary fashion while providing top-notch perimeter defense. He’ll have more on his plate on the offensive end as a senior.

Underwood was one of the best teams in Region 5 last year but graduated a great senior class. One of the key remnants from last year’s team is Jacobs, a 6-foot-2 swingman who can score and defend at a high level. He’s a good long-range shooter who can create his own shot a little bit off the bounce. Expect him to be heavily featured this winter.
