With that in mind, here’s a look at the top go-to guys in Class B
Joe Hurlburt Joe Hurlburt 6'10" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State #147 Nation MN , Enderlin
Enderlin should head into this season with state title aspirations and Hurlburt is the reason why. The 6-foot-10 junior emerged as a nationally ranked prospect thanks to a combination of shooting touch, athleticism and mobility. He averaged 21 points and 15 rebounds per game last year, so folks in North Dakota are well aware of the impact he can have on games. The Eagles have beefed up their schedule this year, so he’ll be on display against plenty of high-end outfits.
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND , Beulah
Beulah will be gunning for a fourth straight Region 7 title this winter and Brandt is arguably the best lead guard in the state despite being just a junior. He averaged 21 points, six rebounds and four assists last year, leading the Miners to 21 wins. He’s got an excellent feel for when to facilitate and when to hunt his own shot. He’s a strong finisher in the paint and can get his shot against just about anybody. And he showed this summer that he can impact the game on the defensive end of the floor against high-end competition too.
Jase Crockett Jase Crockett 5'10" | PG Northern Cass | 2021 State ND , Northern Cass
Crockett is one of the top point guards in Class B and gets it done on both ends of the floor. He’s an elite scorer because he’s deadly from the 3-point line, but also has the strength to play through contact and get to the paint. He’s an excellent playmaker who makes the game easier for his teammates. And he’s a dog on the defensive end of the floor, applying pressure on the ball consistently while bringing an infectious energy for his team.
Jesse White Jesse White 5'11" | PG White Shield | 2021 State ND , White Shield
White put up video game numbers last year, averaging 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for a White Shield team that wasn’t as good as some expected. White gave them a chance just about every night out though, as he’s one of the most complete scorers in the state and can get on a tear from all three levels on the floor.
Caleb Duffield Caleb Duffield 5'10" | PG Bowman County | 2021 State ND , Bowman County
Duffield is one of the most talented pure scorers in Class B and should have Bowman County among the contenders in Region 7. He’s a strong perimeter shooter who can catch fire and pile up points like few other guys across the state and he’s improved as a facilitator over the last year and change. He’ll have the ball in his hands a ton as a senior – expect massive numbers.
Scott Wagner Scott Wagner 6'8" | C Ellendale | 2022 State ND , Ellendale
Wagner has emerged as a double-double machine for Ellendale over the last year and a half and was an all-state guy as a sophomore. He’s 6-foot-6 with a hot motor, a strong frame, good hands and a knack for rebounding everything in his area. He’s going to get fed like crazy this year for Ellendale and if they are going to compete in a loaded Region 3, he’s going to have to be a force.
