After our series of articles on the Class of 2021 who should be valued, we now shift our attention to those in the Class of 2022 and those that need to be on the radar of college coaches.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these juniors the attention of prospective college coaches.
Ryan Dolphin Ryan Dolphin 5'8" | PG Pleasant Valley | 2022 State IA – Pleasant Valley
Despite being just a sophomore, Pleasant Valley’s Ryan Dolphin Ryan Dolphin 5'8" | PG Pleasant Valley | 2022 State IA showed his abilities on the basketball court last year.
Dolphin scored 181 points in 24 games, adding 61 assists, 59 rebounds and 25 steals. The 5-foot-8 guard shot 35 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point line, making 31 triples in all.
Jermaine Gardner Jermaine Gardner 5'11" | PG Davenport West | 2022 State IA – Davenport West
For the next two seasons, Davenport West will be counting on the Class of 2022 to provide production out of the guard court.
One of those is Jermaine Gardner Jermaine Gardner 5'11" | PG Davenport West | 2022 State IA , who is coming off scoring 175 points with 105 assists, 75 rebounds and 55 steals as a sophomore.
Gardner had 25 boards on the offensive glass, shooting 41 percent from the field with 15 made three-pointers for the Falcons.
Noah Mack Noah Mack 6'0" | SG Assumption | 2022 State IA – Davenport Assumption
He only played in 14 games last year, coming off the bench in 12 of them, but Noah Mack Noah Mack 6'0" | SG Assumption | 2022 State IA gave Davenport Assumption a bright spot for the future.
Mack scored 93 points in those games, dishing out 52 assists with 24 steals. He also recorded 34 rebounds for the Knights, who went 19-5 and reached the Class 3A substate championship.
Braden Hufford – Muscatine
It was a tough season for Muscatine this past winter, winning just four games overall. However, there is reason for optimism with several key players returning to the fold.
Braden Hufford, a Class of 2022 prospect, led the team with 47 assists, averaging two per game. He also scored 86 points with 38 rebounds and 14 steals, knocking down 18 three-pointers.
NaZion Caruthers NaZion Caruthers 6'0" | CG Davenport West | 2022 State IA – Davenport West
Joining Jermaine Gardner Jermaine Gardner 5'11" | PG Davenport West | 2022 State IA will be classmate NaZion Caruthers NaZion Caruthers 6'0" | CG Davenport West | 2022 State IA , has he recorded 153 points in just 19 games played.
Shooting 39 percent from the floor with 14 made three-pointers, Caruthers also contributed 77 rebounds, 24 assists and 19 steals.
