Kaden Doram Kaden Doram 6'3" | SF St. Paul Central | 2021 State MN (6’2 2021 W, Sizzle-Caldwell)- With an NAIA offer under his belt, Kaden put up 19 points and played tough defense as Sizzle was able to take down one of Minnesota Select’s 17u teams. Kaden is a guy that normally plays the 2/3 spot, but is often tasked with guarding in the post for his AAU team. He used his toughness to limit the quality looks of a 6’8 opponent, and was rebounding at a high level as well. Offensively, he knocked down a couple of open jumpers, exploited gaps in the defense to attack the basket, and cut hard off the ball leading to two powerful dunks.
Jackson Purcell Jackson Purcell 6'4" | SF Eastview | 2021 State MN (6’4 2021 G, MN Select-Ohnstad)- Jackson has been a consistent performer for Select all summer long, and he once again performed at a high level in a close win over SW MN Stars. Jackson has good positional size, and is an explosive athlete off the bounce, showcasing that athleticism with a transition dunk and some tough finishes around the rim. Purcell is also able to get to his spot off one or two dribbles, and has a consistent pull-up jumper from both mid-range and three point land.
Demarion Watson Demarion Watson 6'8" | SF Totino-Grace | 2022 State #150 Nation MN (6’6 2022 W, Sizzle UAA 16u)- I got to see Demarion play in two events over the weekend (one with AAU and one with HS), and he blew me away on both occasions. Demarion had some of the most impressive dunks I’ve seen all summer, rising right over the top of defenders effortlessly, and slamming it home right over them. He creates these opportunities by cutting hard off the ball and he is able to read the ball off the rim for tip-in dunks. Demarion showcased a soft tough finishing around the rim, and also stood out defensively using his length to contest shots around the rim, and his athleticism to guard just about every spot on the floor.
JaSean Glover JaSean Glover 6'3" | SG Madelia | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 G, SW MN Stars)- Playing against two teams filled with scholarship level players, JaSean held his own and was a productive scorer for SW MN Stars. At 6’3 he is long and agile, and showcased range from beyond the arc to keep the floor stretched. JaSean was most effective however, attacking off the dribble, where he was able to weave his way between defenders and finish with finesse around the rim. He showcased glimpses of being a force in transition as well, sprinting the full length of the floor and finishing at the rim on multiple occasions.
Chase Carter Chase Carter 6'7" | PF Minnehaha Academy | 2022 MN (6’6 2022 F, Sizzle UAA 16u)- Chase Carter Chase Carter 6'7" | PF Minnehaha Academy | 2022 MN has been putting in work this off-season, and it showed in his ability to perform at a high level in a win for Sizzle. His post footwork has always been there, and combined with his strong frame, he used it to bully defenders in the post on his way to some scorers in the paint. Add in his ability to finish with either hand, and it makes him a danger to keep isolated on the block. Chase also impressed with his improved athleticism, finishing above the rim with ease, something that we could see a lot of this winter for Minnehaha Academy.
Reid Patterson Reid Patterson 6'2" | SG Lakeville South | 2021 State MN (6’2 2021 G, MN Select-Ohnstad)- There’s not much to say about Reid Patterson Reid Patterson 6'2" | SG Lakeville South | 2021 State MN that hasn’t already been said this summer. He simply has the ability to take over a game with his tough shot making, and he did just that for stretches against SW MN Stars. At 6’2 he’s able to stop on a dime and elevate from just about anywhere on the floor, and the lefty shooter makes defenders pay for giving him even an inch of space. Add in his speed pushing the ball up in the floor in transition, and he’s a player that defenses have to keep an eye on at all times.
Gavin Gothard (6’2 2021 G, Sizzle-Caldwell)- This is a deep sleeper who I could see having a breakout senior season for St. Paul Central this winter. Gavin has been working hard all summer to improve his game, and it showed as he competed alongside some high level teammates, including two ranked in the top-50 of our 2021 rankings. Gavin has the size to play either guard spot, and he ran the point with maturity for Sizzle. He has a nice handle and used it to penetrate gaps before kicking it out to an open teammate to pick up a few assists on the day. Defensively he showcased good instincts jumping passing lanes to come up with steals, and he’s a solid all-around athlete. Add in his ability to knock down jumpers off the catch or dribble, and he’s a guy who could make a name for himself in the St. Paul City Conference.
