COMMITMENTS
St. Joe’s struck gold as 2021 Bullis/Team Takeover guard Erik Reynolds Erik Reynolds 6'2" | CG Bullis | 2021 State #197 Nation MD made his pledge. The 6-foot-2 dynamic scoring guard chose the Hawks over the likes of George Mason, Richmond, VCU and Xavier among others. Reynolds brings a mature approach to the floor and should make an impact as soon as he steps on the floor as a freshman.
2021 Sidwell Friends/District Basketball Club point guard Ryan Cornish Ryan Cornish 6'3" | CG Sidwell Friends | 2021 State MD committed to Dartmouth over the likes of Lafayette and James Madison. The 6-foot-3 point guard brings high basketball IQ and ability to facilitate a team as a floor general. Cornish has impressed me this summer with his defensive skills. While he isn’t the most athletic prospect you’ll come across, his IQ comes into play with sneaky tendencies and accurate anticipation.
OFFERS
2021 Bishop O’Connell/DC Premier wing Wes Peterson received an offer from George Mason. Despite boasting a 6-foot-5 frame with explosive athleticism, Peterson is under recruited in the eyes of most. George Mason is his first offer of the A-10 variety and it wouldn’t surprise me if one or two more programs from the conference begin tracking Peterson’s progress.
2021 Frederick Douglass/DMV Sports Academy guard Mike Woods Mike Woods 6'4" | SF Frederick Douglass | 2021 State MD received his first Division I offer from Army West Point. Woods is a dynamic 6-foot-4 guard who has put together solid performances in the I-95 Coalition league and caught the attention of scouts in attendance. Our Adam Ayalew was the first to rave about Woods’ potential and we are seeing why he thought so.
2021 Eleanor Roosevelt/District Basketball Club wing/forward Thomas Whitley Thomas Whitley 6'6" | PF Eleanor Roosevelt | 2021 State MD was offered by Chestnut Hill. It marks as Whitley’s first scholarship offer after what has been a productive summer for the 6-foot-6 swiss army knife. More Division II programs will get in the picture soon, as his frame and versatility are intriguing.
2022 Bullis guard Rodney Rice Rodney Rice 6'4" | CG DeMatha | 2022 State #89 Nation MD received an offer from Indiana. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is a top player at his position nationally as high major programs are flooding his offer list. With a total of 21 offers, the majority come from power 5 conferences. It’s no secret that the Hoosiers are rich with basketball history and should have an impact in his recruitment from here until decision day.
I’ve stated on multiple occasions that 2023 Poly/Team Durant wing Kwame Evans Kwame Evans 6'9" | SF Montverde | 2023 State #20 Nation FL Jr. was going to be a blue-blood prospect when it’s all said and done. The first step in that direction happened over the weekend as Kansas extended an offer to the 6-foot-9 southpaw. Regarded as a top 10 player in the 2023 class nationally, don’t expect his rise to calm anytime soon. Following the Kansas offer, Mississippi State offered Evans as well.
2023 St. Frances/Team Durant guard Jahnathan Lamothe Jahnathan Lamothe 6'3" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #204 Nation MD received an offer from Mississippi State. Lamothe is one of the most improved players of the summer regardless of class and as a result, more high majors are getting involved with him.
2023 St. John’s (DC)/Team Durant forward Amani Hansberry Amani Hansberry 6'7" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State #52 Nation MD received an offer from Mississippi State. As you can tell, Mississippi State and more schools are trying to establish early relationships with this Team Durant trio. All of which should be considered in the top 150 nationally for this 2023 class.
