There are a few prospects in the MD/DC area who are planning on making their decisions very soon, but for whatever reason we experience a severe lack of action. Nevertheless, there were a couple of Division III commitments and Division I offers that were handed out. Also since the severe lack of activity, I’ll look at some transfer news that was brought to the forefront.
COMMITMENTS
2021 Mt. Zion wing David Stewart David Stewart 6'8" | PF Mt. Zion Prep | 2021 State MD announced his commitment to Colby College. Stewart supplies tremendous size at 6-foot-7 and the outside shooting needed to play for a Division III team like Colby College. The Mules are coming off a tremendous 24-4 season where they came up short in the NESCAC title game. A very competitive conference, I see Stewart finding a way of putting together a nice college career up in Maine.
2021 Oakdale guard Garrison Linton announced his commitment to Hood College. Linton is an active 6-foot-4 guard who can really shoot it from three. The Blazers are known for their up-tempo style of play where they get up three’s early and often. Linton’s style of play fits that mold very well as I see both sides benefitting from this decision.
OFFERS
2021 Good Counsel/ DC Premier guard Antoine Jacks Antoine Jacks 5'10" | PG Good Counsel | 2021 State MD received an offer to date from Army. Jacks is a tough-nosed floor general that brings immense energy to both ends of the floor. At 5-foot-10, he’s a threat to score from all three levels and isn’t shy of contact on his attacks to the rim. Jacks is also one of the top on-ball defenders for his position that you’ll find in the DMV. He holds an offer from Southern to total two Division I offers to date.
2024 St. Frances/Team Thrill forward Derik Queen received an offer from LSU. The Tigers account for the freshman’s third high-major offer before even stepping on a high school court. Maryland and Virginia Tech are the other two programs that have extended offers to Queen in the recent weeks, and were smart in doing so as the 6-foot-8 forward has already showcased his guard-like skills on the perimeter and leading the fastbreak.
Transfer news:
National Christian head coach Kenny Johnson continues to stockpile talent just a few weeks after getting the job. His latest addition is 2021 forward Clarence Obiajulu Clarence Obiajulu 6'7" | C National Christian | 2021 State MD . A 6-foot-7 big-body presence with a relentless motor, Obiajulu should get more exposure with National Christian depending on their schedule, but a guarantee is that he will be playing alongside talented guards such as Ahmad Harrison Ahmad Harrison 6'1" | PG National Christian | 2022 MD and George Washington commit Brayon Freeman Brayon Freeman 6'1" | CG National Christian | 2021 State #204 Nation MD .
