“I think this winter season we’re going to have another really good team,” Treml said about his senior year. “Right now I think a lot of people think we’re not going to be as good but we have a lot of dogs on the team that are going to do anything to win.
“The main goal is always the state championship but also to just keep getting better individually and as a team and learning from Coach Ken Novak Jr who is a great coach.”
Hopkins players are notorious for adopting an “Us vs the World” kind of “nobody respects us” approach, and it’s worked! Facts are, Class AAAA basketball is 100 percent wide open this year with so many teams going through changes, and Hopkins will enter the year a top five squad.

“I really started spending a lot of time shooting up at open gym and getting there early or staying later to work on my shot and listening to what Coach Novak was saying, and it really helped my jump shot a lot,” Treml said.
“I also started lifting three times a week and putting on some weight which I can tell had really helped improve my game.”
College basketball programs are in contact at a number of levels and all of them offer full ride scholarships.
“I’ve been hearing a lot from North Dakota State and some from Appalachian State at the D1 level,” Treml said. “I’ve also been talking to schools like Bemidji State, Minnesota State-Moorhead, Concordia-St. Paul, and Jamestown.”
