Matas Buzelis Matas Buzelis 6'9" | SF Sunrise Christian | 2023 #2 Nation NLG Hinsdale Central 6’8
Matas was toying with the competition as I was just arriving to the games. He hit a three and then next play shot fake one dribble finish at the rim. It was like this the rest of the day as no player could guard him. Buzelis had a significant height advantage and skillset. He dominated in all of his games. Not one time playing with his back to the basket. Matas has good footwork and coordination with the ability to play on the perimeter or around the rim. Buzelis is a tough cover for anyone.
Chikasi Ofoma Joliet West 6’7
Chikasi is a player that is explosive with a good feel. He’s a thick bodied forward with a good handle with the ability to bully anyone you place in front of him. Ofoma is the bull in a China shop. He did whatever he wanted on the court at times also look uninterested because nobody could guard him. Chikasi has nice foot work on one play he finished with a spin move into a tough up and under move. You just don’t see many players with that type of motion and awareness around the rim. A mid major plus talent here.
Tyler Van Gorp Tyler Van Gorp 6'10" | C New Trier | 2023 State IL New Trier 6’10
First time seeing Tyler. I walked away amazed to see a traditional back to the basket big man. Long and slender Tyler didn’t work around the three point line often. He went to the block and called for the ball with smaller guys defending him. He is still taking simple basic shots. Right and left hooks in the paint that looked good. Van Gorp has to fill out some more still very thin but was very effective. On D he swatted several shots back at guys if they came his way. Tyler did take one shot from beyond the arc and it went in. Watching Tyler play was exciting for me. Can’t wait to chart his progress the next 3 years
Sean Molloy Sean Molloy 6'2" | SG Lane Tech | 2022 State IL Lane Tech 6’3
Molloy has had a good summer playing with the very skilled Illinois Jaguars travel team. On this day I was able to see him showcase how skilled he is in the half court game. Sean has a great first step and jab. He used it often in the game I saw him. Sean is shifty and quick to the rim. He steadily kept defenders off guard getting to the rim for layups. Molloy is a small school type of player who can get a lot of attention during the high school season.
Jeremy Fears Jeremy Fears 6'1" | PG La Lumiere | 2023 GA Joliet West 6’1
Fears was in his bag this weekend. He looked to be a facilitator most of the day usually to big man Matas Buzelis Matas Buzelis 6'9" | SF Sunrise Christian | 2023 #2 Nation NLG . Jeremy didn’t have much trouble getting to the rim whenever he wanted or getting his shot when he wanted. The IQ he possess keeps him on top of his class because he sets up things during each play to make it easier on his teammates. Fears scored on all there levels easily making light of the defense. This day Jeremy was more of the lead guard most colleges coaches would love to have on campus.
