The Lowcountry visits in North Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Lets take a look at some players and awards from this summer on players I saw play. Lets take on the All-Hustle Team right here.
Javi Marlowe Javi Marlowe 6'1" | PG North Myrtle Beach | 2021 State SC (2021) – North Myrtle Beach HS – Manzer (pictured on front)
Marlowe brings the word HUSTLE at all times to the floor with his play. Marlowe isn’t flashy with his play but just stuffs the stat sheet every game for his team. Marlowe isn’t afraid of a few floor burns diving on the floor or taking a charge on the defensive end. Prep Hoops saw Marlowe several times this summer actually dive into the stands to grab a ball. Marlowe is always looking to defend the best player on other team to boot.
Ansuelo Young Ansuelo Young 6'5" | SF Lexington | 2021 State SC (2021) – Lexington HS – Big Shots SC 17U Select
Young will be a welcome addition to the Wildcats roster this season. Young played last season down in the Lone Star State. Young carves out space in the paint and remains active at all times. Young likes to chat it up at times and doesn’t mind drawing contact on defenders. Young is a deceptive athlete and can defend bigger post players.
Kendall Davis Kendall Davis 6'0" | PG York Prep | 2022 State SC (2022) – York Prep (Rock Hill) – 1-Carolina
Davis is part of the Patriots duo in the back court with his brother Kori. Kendall really gets into the opposing players face with his on the ball defending. Davis creates constant havoc with timely steals and deflections every time out. Davis in one game I watched this summer of him he had recorded 8 steals. Davis isn’t afraid to take a charge on command. Davis really helps teams win games just by not scoring the ball but contributing in other ways.
Luke Bracey Luke Bracey 6'6" | PF Rock Hill | 2022 State SC (2022) – Rock Hill HS – NLPB
Bracey isn’t afraid to hustle and play defense down in the post. Bracey a left-handed forward also excels on the hardwood. Bracey rebounds the ball out of his area along with getting on ground for a 50/50 ball. Bracey has left the game with a few bruises and some ice on his body somewhere. Bracey brings a blue collar mentality to the floor.
Umar Lawson (2022) – Massanutten Military (Woodstock, VA) – Upward Stars Pee Dee
Lawson recently decided to transfer out of state to Virginia. Lawson has decided to reclassify into the 2022 class now. Lawson at times looks to be a half-time entertainment show with his acrobats. Lawson plays the game with a great deal of intensity and desire and leaves it all out on the floor. Lawson even last season was emotionally drained after a game and had to be taken to the hospital. Lawson brings complete EFFORT to every game he plays. Lawson played the past two seasons at Laurence Manning Academy.
