These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming season.
Jaden Boyle 6’3 2022
Jaden is an athletic combo guard who can stroke the ball from deep. He has NBA level three-point range with a natural ability to stretch the floor and destroy his defenders when they come out hard to contest his shot. He plays with great awareness and sets up his teammates with ease, after garnering all of the defensive attention. He is a true four-level scorer with an ability to fill up the box score and put pressure on the defense.
Joby Love 6’1 2022 (Cyclones) Mansfield Timberview High School
Joby is an explosive guard who seems to float in the air. His lea[ing ability alone is worth a next level offer. He is a relentless finisher at the rim and welcomes contact. He plays the game with his hair on fire, seemingly at 100 miles per hour. His game really reminds me of Russel Westbrook in his relentless nature on both sides of the floor and scrappy and ferocious nature to his game.
Preston Clark 6’7 2022 (THP Blue) Westlake High School
Preston is an athletic freak with soft shooting touch and a relentless defensive nature to his game. He displayed a soft touch from the outside and punished teams for leaving him open as a trailer option or as a popper after a tough pick. He has quick enough feet to recover and reject shots, even after smaller guards get him leaning. He protects the rim with ease with his long lanky arms that also allow him to shoot over the top of seemingly anyone who comes close.
Cameron Terry 6’2 2022 (United Ballers Harris)
Cameron is an athletic wing who is great at playing engaged on-ball defense. He is great at closing out on defenders and playing harassing defense. He is great at directing his defender towards help and overplaying when he needs to. He is relentless around the rim and displayed some impressive tip-ins that kept his undersized team in the game. He plays a lot like PJ Tucker in the Houston Rockets small-ball lineups that they have made so popular.
Jose Waring 6’5 2022 (ATX Lockdown 2022) Georgetown High School
Jose is an athletic wing who loves to crash the glass and get offensive boards and tip-ins for his team. He is great at spacing the floor and filling holes in the offense. He is comfortable with taking mid-range jumpers after giving a defender a simple head fake along the three-point line. He has all the tools to be an effective player, but I would like to see more development with his ball-handling ability and ability to get by defenders.
TJ Johnson TJ Johnson 6'6" | SF Belton | 2022 State TX 6’6 2022 (ATX Lockdown 2022) Belton High School
TJ is a lanky forward with great size and ability to wreak havoc on the defensive end of the floor. On the offensive side of the ball, he has an array of post moves that he can get to, but he needs better strength and confidence with his off-hand around the rim. He finishes well around the rim even despite tough competition down low.
