These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming season.
Cade Holzman Cade Holzman 6'7" | SF Austin Bowie | 2021 State TX 6’7 2021 (THP Blue) Bowie High School
Cade is an athletic wing with great finishing ability and a soft touch on his outside jumper. He is great at creating open looks for himself by utilizing tempo and slowing down his defender before exploding past him to the rim or over him to shoot a jumper. His game reminds me a lot of Brandon Ingram in his methodologic scoring ability coming from such a lanky athlete.
Jonathan Anderson 6’2 2021 (Cyclones) TC- CH
Jonathan is an athletic combo guard who has good ball skills. He plays engaged on-ball defense and his long arms are very effective in the passing lanes and trapping ball handlers in the full court. He is an elite trapper and second defender who seems to swallow other guards up with his length. He is the main reason his team’s full-court pressure and their trap are so effective.
Elijah Gerhard 6’2 2021 (Texas Gators 2021) Prince of Peace
Elijah is a lanky combo guard who rotates well without the basketball. He has incredibly long arms that are great at disrupting defenders, especially when coming over as a second defender to trap the ball. He has an aware nature to his game and is good at finding holes in the defense. He is a reliable shooter when he gets his feet set and has room. I would like to see continued development in his handle, foot speed and agility, and passing ability to create better for his teammates.
Paul Bizimana Paul Bizimana 6'7" | PF Haltom | 2021 State TX 6’8 2021 (Texas Playmakers 2021) Haltom High School
Paul is an athletic finisher with great foot speed and agility. He is great at running the floor and moves well for his size. He has an array of moves that he can get to down low, such as spins and half spins and strong sweeping face-up moves. I was most impressed with his ability to run with a live dribble and get to the rack. He dominates the game with his incredible size and agility, wreaking havoc wherever he goes.
Kenyon Williams 6’6 2021 (Texas Playmakers 2021) Euless Trinity High School
Kenyon is an athletic forward who is great at finishing down low at the rim. He has great leaping ability and the ability to throw down jaw-dropping dunks. He also has a soft touch and ability to stretch the floor, showing an ability to affect all three levels. On the defensive side of the ball, he is a natural rim protector, who can throw any shot into the stands.
Christopher Loper 6’3 2021 (United Ballers Harris)
Christopher is an incredibly long player who has all the tools to wreak havoc on an opponents game plan. He plays with good energy and loves to get downhill, but his ability to move his feet and disrupt his opponents is where he makes an elite difference to his team. He has all the tools to be a tremendous three and d type player at the next level. I would like to see continued development in his ability to shoot off the dribble, especially from behind the arc.
