ATX Lockdown went undefeated (4-0) in the tournament, with some impressive wins over 3D Empire 16u (75-61), West Texas Blazers 17u (54-50), Texas Playmakerz (57-56), and the aforementioned Texas Gators. Top Performers
SF TJ Johnson TJ Johnson 6'6" | SF Belton | 2022 State TX | 6-5 | Belton (2022)
Johnson was unstoppable over the course of the tournament, averaging 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, with his top performance coming against the West Texas Blazers in form of a double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds). Johnson is a consistent and highly efficient scorer who can beat defenses in a multitude of ways. He is strong when attacking the basket and can also hit shots from beyond-the-arc. A dependable free-throw shooter. Does a great job of grabbing boards from the wing position. Johnson was a key contributor in the championship win with 17 points.
PG Jacob Swoboda Jacob Swoboda 6'2" | PG Cedar Park | 2022 State TX | 6-2 | Cedar Park (2022)
A true floor general who has a great feel for the game, Swoboda was dishing out dimes all tournament long. Over the four games played Swoboda averaged 6.7 assists per contest, including seven assists in the championship game. His top performance of the weekend was against Texas Playmakerz, where Swoboda earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Swoboda has fantastic floor vision and possesses the ability to pass his teammates open.
SG Levi Rutledge Levi Rutledge 6'6" | SG IMG Academy Post Grad (2024) | 2023 State TX | 6-5 | Cedar Park (2023)
A 2023 prospect with a smooth mid-range shot, Rutledge had the play of the weekend for ATX Lockdown with a game-winning layup versus Texas Playmakerz to send them to the championship game. Rutledge is a versatile wing with high-scoring upside and a sweet pull-up mid-range shot, who has the chance to grow into a prototypical small forward. He has the ability to impact the game in other ways besides his scoring, including using his great arm length on the boards. Had 14 points and 3 rebounds in their championship win.
SG Zachary Engels | 6-3 | Round Rock Westwood (2022)
Engels was all over the court making plays for ATX Lockdown, providing tough defense and reliable scoring. Engels averaged 12.5 points per game, with his tournament-high of 17 points coming in the championship game. Plays with good anticipation on defense, as shown with a 5 steal performance against the West Texas Blazers, and is a solid passer having 5 assists in their opening game versus 3D Empire. On offense, Engels is a smooth finisher at the basket while also having nice range from three-point territory.
SF Joseph Waring | 6-6 | Georgetown (2022)
Waring played in the post during the tournament but projects as a solid forward/wing prospect. His top performance was against 3D Empire with a 21 point, 10 rebound double-double. He was also a crucial player in the championship game scoring 14 points and adding 7 rebounds. Waring plays tough in the paint and has a strong build. Can extend out to three-point land on his shot. Showed great awareness on his key assist to Rutledge on the game-winning shot against the Texas Playmakerz.
