These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming season.
Wayne Wiggins 6’0 2022 (MA Trojans) Mansfield Legacy High School
Wayne is a quick-footed guard with a good ability to get to the rim. He thrives when he puts his head down, and always seems to beat his opponents to any spot. He has good control of his body when he gets to the rim and knows how to find contact and finish through it. He needs to work on his consistency at the line, especially with his downhill playstyle he will continue to get fouled.
Audrey Cox 6’2 2022 (MA Trojans) Mansfield Legacy High School
Audrey is an intelligent athletic wing who seems to always be at the right place at the right time. He has good instincts on when to dive to the rim when his teammates slash, while still maintain good space. He finishes well around the rim and has real explosion in his leaping ability. I would like to see more aggression from him and work on his ball-handling and ability to control the game. He is being used as a forward now but needs to develop as a perimeter player to have a chance to compete at the next level.
Anthony Behr 6’3 2022 (RTX Elite) Byron Nelson High School
Anthony is a scrappy wing with good potential to be an effective three and D type player at the next level. He has long arms, hopefully indicating he should not be done growing. He plays with real awareness on the offensive end, moving well without the basketball. He always moves with purpose, whether it’s to come off a screen to shoot or drive to the rim to take a defender away from a play. He plays engaged on-ball defense, but needs to continue to work on foot speed and hand-eye coordination to be an effective player at the next level.
Ugo Osondu 6’3 2022 (RTX Elite) Byron Nelson High School
Ugo is a quick combo guard with a real ability to attack defenses. He showed an ability to put the ball on the floor and attack open space, as well ash showed an ability to fire unique passes to open teammates. He is a confident shooter from deep yet showed an ability to get to the rim after a hard closeout from the defense. I would like to see continued development in his ability to create for his teammates, but also readjusting his shot angle. He shoots too close to his face and has a slower release. I would like to see him speed it up to prove he can be a real scoring option at the next level.
Malik Gamous 6’3 2022 (RTX Elite) Mansfield Legacy High School
Malik is a strong interior force who rebounds the ball with ease. He plays with aggression and tenacity and loves to fight undersized forwards and wings for positioning down low. He seems to win every battle down low and has a good awareness of when to kick the ball out to his shooters for open looks. I wish he would recognize where the help defense is coming to give defenders a head fake and attack the help defenders man. I would like to see increased work with his playmaking ability, I want to see him read the game better and be more dominant with a live dribble. He has all the tools to be a ferocious driving option for his team and the next level.
