In a highly competitive game, the LHBA rallied from a 20-point deficit to take a 77-75 victory and the championship.
There were many talented players on the floor in this game. Here is a look at some of the top players:
Jordan Nesbitt Jordan Nesbitt 6'6" | SF St. Louis Christian | 2021 State #93 Nation MO 6’6″ JRock: The 2021 wing from St. Louis Christian was low-key in stretches, but whenever he wanted to go get a bucket, he would attack the basket and score on the bully-ball drive or he would pull up and knock down a 3-pointer with his feathery shooting touch.
Nate Parker Nate Parker 6'4" | SF Eureka | 2021 State MO 6’4″ LHBA: The 2021 wing from Eureka is an ideal glue-guy who plays different roles, but on this day he had his offensive game going as he scored a game-high 21 points. He scored on several baseline drives and also did a nice job moving without the ball for layups. His 3-point shot was also working on Sunday.
Damien Mayo Damien Mayo 6'2" | SG Chaminade | 2022 State MO 6’3″ JRock: A physically built 2022 shooting guard from Chaminade who has toughness, skill and three-level scoring ability. He has explosive athletic ability and he can play above the rim. He had some tough takes to the basket and some nice mid-range jumpers in his arsenal.
Logan Wich Logan Wich 6'7" | PF Parkway West | 2021 State MO 6’7″ LHBA: The 2021 power forward from Parkway West had a strong game with 19 points. He is a physical performer who worked well on the baseline with tough drives and buckets in heavy traffic. He also used head and shoulder fakes well around the basket. He also displayed a nice perimeter shooting touch from the baseline.
Preston Fortner Preston Fortner 5'10" | PG Francis Howell | 2021 State MO 5’10″ LHBA: The quick 2021 point guard from Francis Howell was a blur in the open court. When his team broke the press, he got the ball in the middle and made great decisions. His pull-up jumper on the move from 15 feet was excellent, plus he also had some nice drives into the lane for layups. He plays with great pace while being under control.
Jaydyn Nicholson 6’4″ JRock: A young and talented 2023 wing player from St. Louis Christian who is strong physically with the ability to score at three levels. He used his strength to score on some powerful takes to the basket while also being able to knock down open 3-pointers against a zone defense. The young lefty also has solid handles and the ability to change speeds off the dribble.
Myles Estrada Myles Estrada 6'1" | SG Francis Howell Central | 2021 State MO 6’1″ LHBA: The 2021 shooting guard from Francis Howell Central scored 15 points, which included a number of Corner 3-pointers on the back end of the press offense. He is just a natural scorer who moves without the ball and knows how to find the open spots in the defense to take advantage of skills. He is also strong enough to score in the paint.
