Darius Chestnut – Sun Prairie – 2023
Chestnut was listed as the “peak performer” at the WI Starz Elite fall league, and film shows a budding, high-potential backcourt prospect. What’s most intriguing isn’t his skillset, but his size. His playstyle is built on his physical traits, as he shines as a straight-line driver with poised finishing ability around the rim. I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops his skillset around his athletic ability because if he makes the right moves, he’s set to become a dangerous and versatile player.

Doyle is a two-sport athlete with the potential to thrive at the division two level. He shined during the school season last year, as he’s a three-level scorer that can heat up quickly in the half-court offense. It’ll be interesting to see what offers he can rake in and if he develops his game during fall basketball.

Dalton moved into the rankings this summer, going from an unknown guard to legit prospect on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The 2023 prospect played varsity last season, averaging 3.9 points per game. His bounce and finishing ability above the rim excite scouts and writers, but he’s best slashing and finishing at the rim. Dalton has the touch to finish in unorthodox ways, which makes him effective finishing in a clogged paint.

Buggs was the latest player out of the ABC Young Lions program to show serious promise. The forward is a mobile, 6’3” mismatch that can control both ends of the floor. He was one of the better shot blockers with his length and timing this summer, but he was also agile and crafty with the ball, leading to some impressive highlights and big scoring games.

I haven’t seen Filardo play since early last season. However, he’s a highly-skilled, gritty prospect that makes an impact scoring on the perimeter and in the post. He put up 20.1 points per game last season, but at the Prep Hoops Expo, he could prove he’s a capable college prospect that can compete and be effective against college-caliber talent.

Bush is a raw prospect that has matured over the past seasons. With his wiry frame and flashy playstyle, he’s always been a player on our breakout radar. If he polishes his skillset and becomes a more poised, efficient prospect, he could become a guy that colleges seriously consider for a roster spot.

Causey is one of the more skilled guards in the class but remains under the radar. The crafty, pass-first player can orchestrate an offense seamlessly, as he’s selfless, has great vision, and tends to shine in transition situations.
