Adam Herrera 2021 Point Guard Eastlake High School (El Paso)
Photo: EXOS
Adam is the real deal; he is a true four-level scorer with great size and length. He has great ball skills and supreme basketball IQ allowing him to finish over bigger and stronger defenders with crafty finishes. He is great with the ball in his hands, making the right reads in the half and full court. I was truly impressed by the way he stepped up at this event, making his name well known and setting the tone every time he stepped on the court. He always seemed to have his play level step up when his team needed it the most. I would like to see more work getting stronger and improving as a defender and continue developing as an offensive weapon- keep adding more and more moves to his bag.
Ka’Lon Johnson 2021 Point Guard Alvarado High School
Photo: EXOS
Ka’Lon is a sneaky athletic guard with a real ability to hang in the air and finish in the lane. He is so crafty when driving with the basketball seeming to get around whoever he wants to at any given time. He knows how to intelligently play with pace to slow up and quickly turn it on to beat defenders. He is great at punishing defenders for closing out too hard on him by hitting them a quick crossover. I would like to see him work on his outside shooting and ability to create for his teammates to really see him make that next leap.
Jah Gulley 2022 Point Guard Lockhart High School
Photo: EXOS
Jah is an athletic sniper from deep. He is comfortable at seemingly any range, off the dribble, off the catch however you want it. He has a great sidestep three that he loves to get off. I was impressed with his ability to finish in the lane, he is crafty with his ability to go up and under as well as using his footwork to create space with intelligent euro steps. He is a true scorer who can fill it up at any given time. I would like to see a complete game of his to see his true play making ability on full display. He had some great plays where he made good reads and other times where he should have passed the ball, I would like to see him work on play making and maybe watching film from high school to see where he can attack within the flow of the offense and on the break.
Kobe Haynes 2021 5’10 Point Guard Houston Christian High School
Kobe is a kid who plays up to the moment, seemingly always stepping up when his team needed a bucket or someone to create space and an open shot. He has a soft floater that he loves to punish the opposing bigs with in the lane. He has great foot speed and agility and seems to zip all around the court in search for open space to attract attention and create for a teammate. He is a confident shooter off the bounce and off the catch and loves to stroke it from deep. He is an active on-ball defender who comes up with steals and gets his opponent to turn the ball over with bad passes.
Elijah Bernstein 2021 5’11 Point Guard Houston Christian High School
Elijah plays with great tenacity and intensity; he always seems to be going at a different gear than his opponents. He knows how to play the game with pace and is great at changing his speed to affect his on ball defender. He is a guard with good size and long arms which allows him to be an effective player in the passing lanes and finish around the rim. I would like to see him work on his shot off the dribble this upcoming season and focus on being a better distributor.
Marcus Willis 2021 Point Guard La Vega High School (Waco)
Photo: EXOS
Marcus is a lanky guard with great natural point guard instincts. He creates well for others, showing off creative dump-off passes to his bigs and intelligent cross-court passes to give his teammates open looks. He is a confident shooter and is comfortable in the mid range, as well as behind the arc. His long arms allow him to finish easily in traffic and around the rim. I would like to see him work on his defensive game, his ability to fill it up will get him far, but the defense can take him to the next level.
