Specifically he had 15 from CA, 10 teams from AZ, 5 from Washington, 3 from Las Vegas, 2 from New Mexico and 1 from Colorado in the 16 and 17U divisions.
Here were some more of the 2022 talent I watched:
Elijah Saunders Elijah Saunders 6'8" | PF Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ Sunnyslope (The Show) (Pictured)
-A thick and strong forward is very skilled. He is comfortable from mid to the 3pt line facing up and leaps up quickly to snatch every rebound near him. He plays with great energy and will throw down some powerful dunks above the rim. He can use a hook shot with his back to the basket but is definitely most comfortable facing up. He boxes out as well as you could for position and he may have been the steadiest performer on a stacked roster.
Richard ‘Pop Pop’ Isaacs Jr PG 6’2 Wasatch Academy (UT) (Vegas Elite EYBL 17)
-One of the top West Coast PG’s is an incredible passer. He is probably better than he gets credited with since he shoots it so well. He can pull-up off the dribble and create his own shot almost any time he wants to. His mid-range game is a thing of beauty and he is probably best with his 3-ball off the catch.
Mekhi Mason Mekhi Mason 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State AZ AZ Compass Prep (The Show)
-A long and quickly growing combo guard. He has that smooth game and can pull-up from mid to the 3pt line. He is an outstanding passer, shooter and scorer without taking any bad shots. He doesn’t need any time to get his shot off and he is more athletic than every before. He seems to deflect 3-5 balls per game and collect steals with his new size and length.
Oakland Fort Oakland Fort 5'9" | PG Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ Sunnyslope (AZ Iron 16)
-A high wire act is arguably the top athlete in the state for his position. He was recently measured near 48 inches on his vertical. He flies up the court with incredible speed and seems to hang in the air and try to score. He has a nice floater game and he uses his elite first step to get into the lane and he is usually getting fouled, as most players can’t keep up with his speed. His 3-ball looked good and he has a nasty pull-up from mid-range. With all the size of Sunnyslope, Fort in my opinion is the key to their season.
Patrick Chew Patrick Chew 6'4" | SG Brophy | 2022 State AZ Brophy Prep (The Show)
-Only there on Saturday but he is a tough and physical guard that just keeps impressing each event. He is s true combo guard making plays and scoring. He is tough on the ball defensively with stronger hands and a good frame/build. His shooting is very consistent from the arc and a real team player always looking to make the correct play.
Easton Reagan Easton Reagan 6'4" | CG Desert Mountain | 2022 State AZ Desert Mountain (Arizona Dream 16)
-The top notch shooter keeps showing out each week. In a rivalry game vs many former teammates, he scored 22 points with four 3’s made including a game winner with seconds remaining in the game. He has a huge IQ for the game and is a very good passer and a better defender than last year. He uses his height and length to score it inside.
Here is one of the best shots I viewed on Labor Day weekend.
