This program has consistently had a high recruiting rate and sends many kids from the Dallas area to play college ball each and every year. Here are a small few of the guards that really caught my eye at the Showtyme Be Elite Camp.
Jordan McCullough | 6’2 | Combo Guard | Dallas Madison High School | 2022 | High motor kid that plays with great energy, he hustles for everything, there wasn’t a moment where I witnessed him slacking on either end. Very active rebounder, especially on the offensive boards where he ran in and grabbed rebounds before anyone had a chance to box him out. Good defensive presence, his aggression, and awareness allowed him to get his hands on several steals, both on-ball and by jumping the passing lanes. Offensively, Jordan loved to the pull-up jumper from the elbow, he knew exactly how to get that shot off whenever he wanted it. McCullough ate defenders up with his crisp, explosive, crossover pull-up jumpshot, he displayed nice dribble to pull-up motion. Jordan McCullough showed good all-around skills, he found guys cutting on the drive and set players at times as well.
Dorien Goodman Dorien Goodman 5'10" | PG Lancaster | 2022 State TX | 5’11 | Point Guard | Dallas Lincoln High School | 2022 | Dorien Goodman Dorien Goodman 5'10" | PG Lancaster | 2022 State TX is one of those kids that never misses a chance to play basketball, he’s participated in all the top camps and tournaments in the Dallas area all summer long, he’s made his presence felt at every single one of them and at this camp, there was no difference. This pure point guard is an incredibly gifted passer with amazing court vision. Dorien sees everything and there’s not a single pass on the court that he cannot make, he blew me away with his ability to put fullcourt bounce passes right on the money. The floor general orchestrated the offense like a pro, doing an amazing job of telling guys where to go and putting his teammates in a perfect position to succeed. Alongside his passing, Goodman’s leadership made the players around him better, he never got down on his teammates and he made sure to high five somebody after almost every play. Dorien Goodman Dorien Goodman 5'10" | PG Lancaster | 2022 State TX has great intangibles, his leadership skills stand out, Goodman takes responsibility and holds himself accountable, a trait that’ll not only benefit him greatly on the court, but also in life.
T’Johnn Brown T’Johnn Brown 6'0" | PG Dallas Kimball | 2023 State TX | 6’0 | Point Guard | South Garland High School | 2023 |T’Johnn is one of the most athletic point guards of his class and he put it on full display during the Showtyme camp. Brown’s elite speed was unmatched and uncontainable, and his vertical was highly impressive. There were several plays where T’Johnn pushed the ball fullcourt and got to the rim for a layup in 3 to 4 seconds, even when being trapped or double-teamed it didn’t slow him down one bit. Probably the toughest player in the building to guard one-on-one. T’Johnn can beat you in so many ways, he can get into the paint when he wants and if it’s clogged he’ll beat you with the three-ball; a good shooter from deep, nice elevation, balance, with a high release. On the defensive end, he was extremely aggressive, very quick hands and timing, he did a great job of always finding a way to get his hands on top of the ball without getting the reach-in foul, and when he wanted the ball bad enough he just snatched it away. I’m excited to see how T’Johnn Brown T’Johnn Brown 6'0" | PG Dallas Kimball | 2023 State TX ’s improvement this summer translates into the high school season.
Xak Wylie | 6’4 | Shooting Guard | Campbell High School | 2023 |Sharpshooter with a high basketball IQ and good instincts on both ends of the court. He did a spectacular job of consistently spreading the floor, finding openings in the lane, and also soft spots around the perimeter. Xak Wylie is a player you must keep an eye and a hand on at all times when guarding, he’s slippery, you look away for one second and he’s gone, either cutting to the basket or popping out for a three-pointer. Anytime Wylie was on the floor he opened up more scoring opportunities for the squad.
Davion Sykes Davion Sykes 6'5" | G Duncanville | 2022 TX | 6’4 | Shooting Guard | Duncanville High School | 2022 | Davion led his team with buckets, his scoring and shooting ability put fear into the heart of defenders, no one wanted the responsibility of guarding Sykes. He was on fire from deep, showing very good shooting mechanics when catching and shooting, spotting-up, and a pulling-up. Defenders also wanted no part of Davion Sykes Davion Sykes 6'5" | G Duncanville | 2022 TX when he drove to the rim, he punched in dunks right through the lane untouched on multiple occasions. Sykes is someone that I can see dominating this basketball camp a year from now.
