This summer Ryan was named second team 17 and Under All State for Minnesota, and he was a first team Prep Hoops Circuit All Minnesota talent. He’s a guy that we’ve extensively told you that was the most consistent PG in 17u (among Minnesota players) and a guy we’ve told you has played well in every big game.
Every big game, think of that. In facing guys like Chucky Hepburn, Kamari McGee, Tamin Lipsey, Eli King Eli King 6'2" | PG Caledonia | 2022 State #151 Nation MN , and others, Ryan Dufault Ryan Dufault 5'11" | PG Waseca | 2021 State MN played well. Which is exactly why division two schools are in contact.
“I am hearing from Bemidji State, Minot State, University of Mary, Sioux Falls, Minnesota State-Mankato State, and St.Thomas,” Dufault said. “The most is Minot State, Bemidji State, and University of Mary!”
Ryan is also the lead guard of Waseca, a team that will likely be the preseason number one in Class AA. The Jays, Minneapolis North, Caledonia, and Perham are the AAAA favorites. Waseca brings back their entire rotation and all of those players are experienced seniors. Dufault and the Bluejays return more from last year’s team and they have defeated North – the likely preseason number two in Class AA – each of the last two seasons.
“My goal is to win the state title this year,” Ryan said. “I also want to hopefully get stronger and get better with my right hand. But the main goal for this year is to win the state title!”
Waseca has a real chance to accomplish their goal but the Class AA top contenders are also some of the elite teams in the state meaning it will be tough. The Jays won their sib-section last year before the season was cancelled and they took second in Class AAA two years ago.

Ryan, Kyreese, and Andrew played the full game. They are an inexperienced group of players that are hungry to play for the state title again.
