Cody Pennebaker Cody Pennebaker 6'5" | SF Park Center | 2022 State MN (6’4 2022 CG, St. Francis)- At 6’4 Cody has the size and athleticism to play on the wing, but he runs the point for his St. Francis team. He showcased a secure handle, and really impressed me with his outside shot. Cody took over in a win over St. Paul Central, making three after three both off the catch and dribble. In a second game against Duluth East’s second team, Cody showcased his athleticism with a poster dunk in transition, and some strong finishes at the rim.
Kaden Doram Kaden Doram 6'3" | SF St. Paul Central | 2021 State MN (6’3 2021 W, St. Paul Central)- Kaden Doram Kaden Doram 6'3" | SF St. Paul Central | 2021 State MN has been putting together a strong fall season thus far, and looks like a guy who could compete for St. Paul City Conference POTY. He has some size on the wing and is able to defend bigger than his height due to his hard working attitude and his athleticism. Offensively he’s dangerous attacking off a straight-line drive with the ability to finish at the rim with either hand. He showcased his athleticism with three dunks in Central’s final game of the day.
Malcolm Jones Malcolm Jones 6'9" | C Prior Lake | 2022 State MN (6’8 2022 PF, Prior Lake)- After graduating two D1 players, Prior Lake will look for Malcolm Jones Malcolm Jones 6'9" | C Prior Lake | 2022 State MN to step up as their guy this year. Malcolm has a strong frame at 6’8, and combined with his grit and high effort style of play, he’s a monster on the glass. He was also consistently the first one on the floor for loose balls, something you don’t often see out of players his size. Malcolm impressed me with his timing to block shots defensively, and stood out with his ability to stretch the floor on the other end with his three point shooting.
Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek 6'1" | SG Rosemount | 2022 State MN (6’2 2022 G, Kipp’s)- Caleb had an average first game for Kipp’s, but ended up putting on a show in their second game against Robbinsdale Cooper. The junior guard caught fire from three, using his quick release to put up points in a hurry from beyond the arc. He moved well off the ball to shake his defender, finding himself with space from three to get off a clean look. Add in some tough finishes through contact around the rim, and Caleb proved he’s in the upper echelon of 2022 guards in Minnesota.
Mattie Thompson Mattie Thompson 6'6" | SF Duluth East | 2021 State MN (6’6 2021 F, Duluth East)- The recent Minnesota-Duluth commit put in a strong performance against Prior Lake, showing off a versatile game in the process. Mattie brought some energy to his team with an alley-oop dunk in transition, and was dangerous putting the ball on the floor from the wing. He does a great job of using his body to shield off defenders in the paint, allowing him to create some separation in the air and go up and finish.
Broderick Powell Jr Broderick Powell Jr 5'11" | PG Robbinsdale Cooper | 2021 State MN (5’11 2021 PG, Robbinsdale Cooper)- In a tough matchup against Kipp’s, Broderick made his presence felt on the defensive end. He gets low in a stance and is extremely quick, moving his feet to mirror opposing ball handlers. That constant ball pressure led to multiple turnovers, and some transition opportunities. Offensively the jumper wasn’t there, but he finished off multiple tough looks around the rim. Cooper has a talented group of guards this season, and with Broderick providing high level performances, they’re a team to watch in the metro.
Hassan Kamara Hassan Kamara 6'4" | SG Columbia Heights | 2022 MN (6’4 2022 SF, Kipp’s)- Hassan has been one of the top 2022 small forwards I’ve seen over the past few months, and he continued to provide consistent production on both ends of the floor. Defensively he’s an extremely hard worker willing to guard multiple spots, and he can commonly be found taking charges or diving on the floor for loose balls. Offensively Hassan can make you pay for giving him too much space beyond the arc, but he also showed that he’s a tough finisher around the rim and can make plays happen on the block.
