The Bluegrass Fall League is being held in Louisville, KY at the Delta Foundation. AAU/Travel Ball organizations are playing to give their players extra opportunities to play the game and be evaluated. I sat in on a few games yesterday. These are some players that definitely caught my eye.
Austin “Rico” Carr-Cole-2022-North Oldham HS- Rico is a speedy guard who can handle the basketball. Probably the fastest player I saw yesterday from end to end. He has the ability to attack in transition and get to the rim. He puts pressure on the defense to get back or he will get a basket. Rico displayed the ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc. I would like to see him use his floater and pull up jumper a little more because he is capable of knocking it down. He finished with 16 points and 4 assists. Once he adds some change of pace stuff to his game he will be hard to handle.
Cade Hilt-2022-Dunbar HS- Cade is a player that is under the radar, but won’t be for long. He is a combo guard with good athleticism. Hilt has a nice handle. He is able to break players down off the bounce and get to the basket. Don’t take Cade lightly or he will dunk on you. He has a very sneaky quick bounce. Hilt is a competitor and plays both ends of the floor. He can also make shots from beyond the arc. He is probably the most underrated player in the Lexington area. I would like to see him get to his midrange pull up more because he can elevate over defenders with his athleticism.
Turrell Cleaves Jr-2022-Jeffersontown HS-Turrell is probably the most gifted player I saw. A 6’4” guard who can do everything. Cleaves athleticism is off the charts. He has all the natural ability to be the best player to come out of his class. He possesses a good handle and ability to get to the rim. Watching him play it seems effortless. This young man could be a high major prospect if he continues to improve the consistency of his jumper. The rest of his game is there. He is a special talent. In both games he scored 23 and 8 and 22 and 9.
Turner Buttry Turner Buttry 5'11" | PG Bowling Green | 2022 State KY -2022-Bowling Green HS-Turner is an absolute floor general. He plays the game the right way. He has a good handle. Buttry is a knock down shooter. You can not leave him open or he will make you pay. Turner doesn’t settle for the three either. He will shot fake and get to his pull-up jumper. He is also a solid defender. He competes! Any college coaches looking for a solid point guard should definitely take a look at Turner.
