Team Charlotte flexes it’s muscles
Team Charlotte was on full display this past weekend at Big Shots Rock the Rock as they took home the 17U Orange Division bracket title in the end, defeating the likes of 1Carolina, Flight 22 Elite and Big Shots Elite North Carolina on the way. They were led by Robert Dillingham Robert Dillingham 6'2" | CG Donda Academy | 2023 #9 Nation CA-S , A.J. Smith, Kris Robinson Kris Robinson 5'11" | SG Combine Academy | 2021 State NC and Patrick Wessler Patrick Wessler 7'0" | C Combine Academy | 2022 State #217 Nation NC .
Smith showed off a bigger physical frame and all-around skillset on both ends while Sanford showed off his ability to run rim-to-rim. Robinson and Dillingham showed off their ability to score the basketball with the ball in their hands. Robinson went off for six 3-pointers and 18 points against Flight 22 in the semifinals. He made 12 total on the weekend, finishing second in the division. Dillingham took home MVP honors when it was all said and done and put up 22 points in the title game.
Daylan Askew Daylan Askew 6'4" | SG Hertford County | 2021 State NC shows off his scoring ability again
6-foot-4 guard Daylan Askew Daylan Askew 6'4" | SG Hertford County | 2021 State NC made an appearance with the NC Blazers this past weekend and showed off his ability to produce once again. He led the Orange Division in scoring average (26.7 ppg), total points (80) and 3-pointers made (13). He’s slowly making waves as the grassroots season comes to a conclusion. He went off for 39 points in their opening game against Big Shots Elite West Virginia, knocking down seven 3-pointers and showing off his ability to get to the free throw line. He’s a stock riser in the 2021 class for sure.
Other unsigned 2021s shined on the hardwood too
BJ Freeman BJ Freeman 6'6" | SF Moravian Prep | 2021 State NC made his debut this past weekend with Big Shots Elite North Carolina and looked good. He put up 18.0 ppg and led the Orange division in total free throws made with 17. He showed off his ability to be more than just a forward, handling the basketball on the fastbreak and distributing on the fly. He’s still a top prospect in the state available.
Peyton Gerald Peyton Gerald 6'8" | PF Ardrey Kell | 2021 State NC is another versatile prospect that made an appearance this past weekend. He’s playing a lot more physical in the paint on both ends and showed off a stronger frame. He put up 15.5 ppg and knocked down seven free throws at Big Shots Rock the Rock.
Jacob Morgan Jacob Morgan 6'6" | SF Moravian Prep | 2021 State NC was a feature prospect for Carolina Riptide , averaging 25.0 ppg this past weekend. He finished third in the Orange Division in scoring average and total points (75). He posted 35 points in their 90-80 victory over Virginia Venom, knocking down five 3-pointers and four free throws. He’s another prospect who continues to improve with each showing.
Liberty Heights’ prospects stock on the upward trend
Liberty Heights Academy has some gems on their hands in Elijah Jamison Elijah Jamison 6'3" | PG Liberty Heights | 2022 State #204 Nation NC and Isaac Farah Isaac Farah 6'9" | PF Liberty Heights | 2021 State NC . Jamison and Farah were top performers on the Team EAT roster and it showed by the end of Big Shots Rock the Rock when Jamison earned an offer from Middle Tennessee State.
Jamison put up 21.0 ppg and knocked down nine 3-pointers on the weekend, something he’s added to his arsenal on offense of late. He’ll be a top 10 prospect when the new 2022 rankings release and as he continues to show he hasn’t skipped a beat, expect him to grow at Liberty Heights Institute even more in 2020-21.
Farah showed off his ability to play inside and out and attack the rim on the break. He put up 11.3 ppg while showing what he can do at the stretch-forward position. He’s another prospect who should start earning offers soon.
