We’ve also taken the liberty of watching many games via live stream and replay during the “new normal.” Here is a look at five guards who respectively improved their stock throughout August.
Chace Davis Chace Davis 6'2" | CG St. Andrew's | 2021 State MD | Team Durant/St. Andrew’s (MD)
Davis is an experienced guard who closed out his junior season in style by playing a key role during his team’s run to the MAC Championship. He continued that strong run of play during the summer with Team Durant. Davis looks as explosive as ever. His defense is improving and the development of his overall game is trending in the right direction.
Dylan Edwards Dylan Edwards 6'1" | CG St. Andrew's | 2022 MD | District Basketball Club/St. Andrew’s (MD)
Edwards is another St. Andrew’s guard who is playing at a high level right now and has been for several months now. He is a calming presence on the ball who rarely gets rattled under pressure and has the eye for a good pass. Edwards is a confident shooter from the perimeter who shows no fear when attacking the rim and is a crafty finisher. He competes fiercely on the defensive side and does his due diligence on the boards.
Jordan Foster | Warriors Elite/Mt. Zion Prep (MD)
Foster is a top-tier athlete who can change the momentum of a game with one play. Whether that play involves streaking down the lane and converting a putback dunk, or sliding over to take a charge, he is up to the task.
Cole Hanin Cole Hanin 5'10" | PG Bullis | 2021 State MD | Team Takeover Orange/Bullis (MD)
Hanin stood out in Team Takeover’s scrimmage vs. KOA Elite that I had the chance to watch. This comes to no surprise as he is the type of point guard that does whatever it takes to win games. Hanin’s intangibles, such as his unselfishness and toughness, are commendable and tend to permeate within whatever team he plays on.
Mac MacDonald | Team Richmond/Collegiate (VA)
MacDonald is known for his shooting ability, but categorizing him as only such would be a mistake. This is because when his shot is not falling, he finds other ways to impact the game. MacDonald can occasionally serve as the primary ball-handler, guards multiple positions on defense, rebounds well in his area, and can get to the rim as well.
