Many players have shown enough simply on tape and colleges are watching now more than ever as they navigate these untested waters.
Here is a look at some of the summer stock risers from Florida in the 2023 class.
Part 2
Jayden Hastings Jayden Hastings 6'9" | PF Orlando Christian Prep | 2023 State #120 Nation FL | 6-9 | Orlando Christian Prep/Team Breakdown
At 6-9 nearly 6-10, Hastings is really started to mature at the perfect time. USF, Iowa State and St. John’s sent out early offers last fall. His wingspan is long and his ability to block, rebound and defend at the rim are all already shining through. As long as Hastings gets more aggressive offensively and stronger in his upper body, he is going to be a major player. At Class 2A Orlando Christian Prep, he is a great pairing for 2022 forward Ven-Allen Lubin Ven-Allen Lubin 6'7" | PF Orlando Christian Prep | 2022 State #144 Nation FL . Hastings is in for a breakout sophomore campaign.
Kris Parker Kris Parker 6'6" | CG Crossroads | 2023 State #72 Nation FL | 6-6 | 1Family/Crossroads
There weren’t many more productive freshman scorers than Parker this past season. The long tweener is a gifted ballhandler who can guard nearly every position on the floor and score as a jump shooter and inside slasher. He has a quick first step and as he fills out his frame, he will further his offensive value. Detroit Mercy, Louisiana-Monroe and Samford have all jumped in with offers over the last month or so. Parker is a fast riser who is going to keep drawing the attention of college programs.
Tristan Gross Tristan Gross 6'4" | CG St. Pete | 2023 State #194 Nation FL | 6-3 | Clearwater Calvary Christian/E1T1
On a team filled with juniors, Gross became the leading scorer for Clearwater Calvary Christian right out of the gates with a 28-point performance in the season opener against defending state champion Central Florida Christian. The deep ball sharpshooter is a quick-twitch guard with impressive handles and court vision. He plays the right way on both ends of the floor and as he becomes more vocal and stronger all around, he will be an even better two-way guard. The sky is the limit for Gross who made 69 3-pointers as a freshman while shooting 44 percent from long range.
Kjei Parker | 6-1 | Polk Elite/Bartow
Making the move from Kathleen to Bartow, Class 6A state champion earned a good one in Parker. Alongside our No. 14 overall 2021 prospect, point guard Walter Clayton Walter Clayton 6'3" | PG Bartow | 2021 State #218 Nation FL , this will be a dangerous guard duo for the defending state champs. Parker has a good frame on him and is built like a football player and his mix of handles and attacks are already impressive. He isn’t afraid to control the offense and score in bunches. Parker was solid as can be as a freshman and will only improve two-fold on a deep roster built to win.
Harvey Wilson Harvey Wilson 6'7" | PF Santa Fe Catholic | 2023 State FL | 6-6 | 1Family/Santa Fe Catholic
Wilson is a very intriguing prospect. He had a highly productive start to the 2019-20 season before leaving Bayshore Christian prior to the 3rd annual Prep Hoops Sun Bash in early January. Now enrolled at Santa Fe Catholic, he will be part of a new-look group that will certainly make some noise. Wilson is a long body who has nimble feet and plenty of effort on offense. If he can further his strength and defense, he is bound to make his name known.
