With these guys being sophomores currently, there is a real chance these guys aren’t done growing yet nor are they don adding to their bags. Take a look below and see who are the best frontcourt players in this loaded 2023 class.
Tyler Williams Tyler Williams 6'8" | C Brush | 2023 State OH (Brush)- Williams plays like a HM prospect and has the intensity and athleticism early on that has been impressive to us. Tremendous rebounder. Gets after it on the glass and creates 2nd chance opportunities for himself on put backs. 6’7 PF with a ton of bounce and showed glimpses of being a rim protecting threat consistently with his length.
Nelson Johnson Nelson Johnson 6'6" | PF Lutheran East | 2023 State OH (University School)- Nice sized PF at 6’6. Has the build to be a D1 prospect. High level and high volume rebounder. Should be seeing an increase in his role with University once the Winter comes around.
Lee Benson Lee Benson 6'5" | PF Meadowdale | 2023 State OH (Meadowdale)- Benson is a prospect we got a better look at this Summer with Team Flyght. The 6’5 PF can step out and defend the perimeter with his length and footwork. Closeouts are clean and firm. Contests shots. Lengthy on the offensive end. Impressed with his back to the basket and showed confidence backing down defenders.
Darius Stratford Darius Stratford 6'8" | C St. Vincent-St. Mary's | 2023 State OH (SVSM)- Stratford is a giant and will have an opportunity to be on a bigger stage for the Irish this upcoming season. At 6’9, he already has the size to be a HM target. Tall and also has the build to be nearly impossible to defend. Sets hard and solid screens. Will need to improve his finishing abilities in the paint, but with his size and overall skill, should be on most college radars early on in his young career.
Luke Montgomery Luke Montgomery 6'4" | C Findlay | 2023 OH (Findlay)- The 6’5 PF will likely be playing on Saturdays in the Fall, but has plenty of upside on the hardwood. Has a football body and uses it on the perimeter. Lefty has the go ahead to shoot free throw line extended and beyond. Impressed me in pick-and-roll situations. Undersized for a PF but will be a complimentary piece for Findlay this Winter.
