Inslee Carroll Inslee Carroll 6'3" | SG Doss | 2022 State KY , Doss (Unranked–>20) – Inslee was a miss in our last class rankings and that oversight was corrected here. The potential is there to be a D1 guard eventually but Carroll needs to hit the weight room harder to improve his ability to finish through contact at the rim. His shooting is solid but hos mechanics are a little funky. When he’s engaged on defense, he can guard multiple positions. Look for him to be a factor in the 6th region this year.
Cole Villers Cole Villers 6'2" | SG Ashland Blazer | 2022 State KY , Ashland (47–>19) – One of the better catch and shoot players in the class, Villers helped Ashland to their undefeated regular season as a Sophomore and has aspirations of another perfect year as a Junior. Seventeen points and five rebounds per game as a Sophomore could turn into 20 and 7 as a Junior. Over half of Villers’ shots last season were from downtown and if he becomes a better slasher his stock could rise more.
Joel Iles Joel Iles 6'4" | SF Newport Central Catholic | 2022 State KY , Newport Central Catholic (Unranked–>27) – A big and strong wing, Iles is a lesser known player thanks to residing in Northern Kentucky and playing at an A school. Joel put up 13 points and 4 rebounds per game as the leading scorer for Newport Catholic and shot an impressive 44% from three. If he will get to the rim more, Joel can capitalize with a lot of And-1s as an 81% free throw shooter.
Mitchell Rylee Mitchell Rylee 6'8" | C Covington Catholic | 2022 State KY , Covington Catholic (30–>12) – From unranked to top 12 in a year’s time, Rylee has burst on the scene as one of the best bigs in the state over the last couple of months as he has gone head to head with top post players in 2021 and 2022 and come out ahead. If Rylee can become a more athletic finisher and better rim protector, he’s going to see multiple D1 offers come his way between now and this time next year.
JiAirius Webb JiAirius Webb 6'7" | PF Owensboro | 2023 State KY , Owensboro Catholic (26–>14) – Webb is an athletic forward prospect with D1 upside as a big wing/post player who can score on the block or take bigger defenders off the dribble. Ji is an above average rim protector but is not as active of a rebounder as he should be for his size and agility. Once he reaches his potential, he could be averaging 20 and 10 while adding 3-5 blocks per night.
Brant Smithers Brant Smithers 6'1" | CG Walton-Verona | 2022 State KY , Walton-Verona (Unranked–>38) – Perhaps the best shooter in the state, Smithers is a deadeye from deep and is Mr. Dependable at the free throw line. Walton lost a ton in 2019 but Brant stepped up and became one of the state’s top scorers as a Sophomore and could have even higher averages if he can get some help with the scoring load and draw some attention off of him.
