Today I am highlighting 5 SF/WFs outside the Top 50 with potential to play college basketball as they continue to grow. Let’s take a look.
Brock Makrancy Brock Makrancy 6'6" | PF Findlay | 2022 State OH (Findlay)- Makrancy is one of the most versatile prospects on this list. 6’6 Wing that can light up beyond the arc and be a solid scoring threat. Part of a loaded Ohio Buckets AAU team this Summer which did not allow us to really see his true potential due to the firepower on that roster. He is bound to have a huge season with Findlay and could see his stock rise with a strong showing with the Trojans.
Lebraun Berry Lebraun Berry 6'4" | SF Aiken | 2022 OH (Aiken)- Berry is one of the more athletic prospects and had one of the more memorable performances this AAU season. Physically imposing in terms of overpowering smaller and undersized wings and SFs. Uses his powerful frame to fight through the post and finish at a high level among traffic. Has big arms and knows how to use them and force contact when attacking the glass. Promising prospect that could play at the low NAIA level.
Tayshaun Mayfield Tayshaun Mayfield 6'2" | SF Bradley | 2022 OH (Hilliard Bradley)- Mayfield is a promising football prospect and will be interesting to see which route he chooses to pursue at the college level. As a basketball player, he brings the physicality used on the gridiron for a tough nosed Bradley squad. Fights in the paint with opposing bigs and not afraid to do the dirty work on the glass. Combines his very strong frame with athleticism and leaping ability. Could transition into more of a PF as he gets older and adds even more size.
Sam Marbury Sam Marbury 6'5" | SF Solon | 2022 State OH (Solon)- Marbury is one of the more intriguing prospects on this list at 6’4, but has struggled in games when we’ve watched him live this Summer. Offensive minded player possessing a nice arsenal of moves and skill. Quick decision maker in terms of when to shoot and when to make an extra pass. If he adds some addition bulk, Marbury could move up the Rankings. Otherwise he seems like a low D2/NAIA target.
Anthony Coppock Anthony Coppock 6'4" | SF Miamisburg | 2022 State OH (Miamisburg)- Coppock emerged on the scene a year ago and showed he is a promising basketball player with the Vikings. An athletic SF, he has a lot of promise in his offensive game, showing he could be primary scoring threat with increased work on his offensive game. Can be a target to any of the D3s in Ohio and especially if he adds on to his 6’3 size currently.
