These rising juniors played their way into the rankings. Here’s some of the highest debutants.
90. 6-4 W Autrey Barnes Autrey Barnes 6'4" | SF Grady | 2022 State GA – Grady
Autrey Barnes Autrey Barnes 6'4" | SF Grady | 2022 State GA lands at No. 90 in his debut in the 2022 rankings. He’s a wiry long-armed athlete that is super bouncy. Barnes is active, flying in for rebounds and chasing down blocks. He can impact games without scoring, which gives him great value. Offensively, he’s mainly a slasher and effort guy. If he can craft together a consistent three-point shot, Barnes could potentially skyrocket in the rankings.
91. 6-6 F Caleb Richardson Caleb Richardson 6'7" | PF Cherokee | 2022 State GA – Cherokee
I’ve always liked Caleb Richardson Caleb Richardson 6'7" | PF Cherokee | 2022 State GA ’s effort defensively. He was an important piece in the Georgia Legacy cog when available. He’s not afraid to challenge people at the rim; a good shot blocker and overall defender with his length. Richardson runs the floor well and can score on cleanup opportunities and when attacking from 15-feet and in.
94. 6-4 PF Keylan Rutledge Keylan Rutledge 6'5" | PF Franklin County | 2022 State GA – Franklin County
Still trying to stretch out a couple more inches, Keylan Rutledge Keylan Rutledge 6'5" | PF Franklin County | 2022 State GA is a throwback post with big game. He’s performed well when battling other D-I bigs and has never backed down from a challenge. Now garnering D-I looks in football, the 255-pounder is still a load on the hardwood. He’s got great footwork and a soft touch around the rim. Rutledge is adept at facing up and can bury the mid-range consistently. Aside from his strong positional defending and nimble feet, Keylan’s passing is beyond advanced and one of his best traits. A basketball career is up in the air right now with football on the verge of blowing up, but either way he will be a workhorse on the block for the next two seasons in Carnesville.
95. 6-3 W Kaymen Brown Kaymen Brown 6'3" | SF Jonesboro | 2022 State GA – Lovejoy
A tough glue guy that helps win games, Kaymen Brown Kaymen Brown 6'3" | SF Jonesboro | 2022 State GA is the type of player that will do whatever a coach asks of him. If he’s needed to score and carve out 14 points, he can do that by slashing and working the glass. If he has to defend another team’s best player, he’s got the length, strength and quickness to make things difficult. He’s a versatile piece that can be deployed in a variety of ways.
97. 6-5 PF Josh Hughes Josh Hughes 6'5" | PF Etowah | 2022 State GA – Etowah
A fundamentally sound post player with no wasted movements, Josh Hughes Josh Hughes 6'5" | PF Etowah | 2022 State GA is tough around the basket. He can score on baby hooks and can work the offensive glass. He can turn and face and attack off the dribble when needed and can also hit the mid-range jumper. He’s got good hands and is a smart defender.
98. 6-7 PF Wade Kahl Wade Kahl 6'7" | PF Centennial | 2022 State GA – Centennial
Wade Kahl Wade Kahl 6'7" | PF Centennial | 2022 State GA has good length and is a reliable scorer with his back to the basket. He implements ball fakes and head fakes on the low block and loves to get to his right hand to shoot hooks over his left shoulder – a shot that’s hard to defend. Kahl will play a big role for Centennial this upcoming season as they look to surprise after a 12-14 year. Kahl is a solid option for D-II and D-III to track over his final two seasons.
