Brenden Moss (Illinois Stars)
The angular forward from Rockford Jefferson who is transferring to Minnesota Prep for his upcoming season is a three and D wing with room to keep getting better. Moss drilled multiple threes with a smooth looking stroke. Mixed in a few slashes taking good angles. Defensively he got after it with his long arms getting in passing lanes and disrupting opponents. Also high pointed several rebounds flying in from the perimeter.
Owen McManaman (HIT Select)
This Lyons 6’2” guard lit it up when we saw him with HIT Select at Midwest Collision. He had it all working including his lethal three point shot. Also mixed in one dribble pull ups, baseline takes, and was crafty converting several drives.
Marcus Overstreet (Illinois Jaguars)
The Whitney Young 6’8” center was playing up on the 17U level with the Illinois Jaguars and more than held his own. He has a lot of tools to work with. Had a couple of finishes, hit a baseline jumper, and shot faked his defender before going by him. Runs the floor with ease and is a shot blocking presence. Rebounded well in his area.
Damahrion Murrell (Chicago Impact)
Murrell is small at only 5’5”, but this kid is fun to watch. Plays with speed pushing it in the open floor. The fast guard won off the bounce and is a sound pull up shooter.
Dakari Presley (Chicago Impact)
This Proviso East 5’7” point guard was most effective in transition using his jets to get to the rim. Also was an active defender that turned defense into offense in a hurry!
Tyler Wildermuth (HIT Select)
Wildermuth jumped on our radar with a strong showing for HIT Select. The IC Catholic 5’10” point guard is a sound shooter off the catch from three. Also a pesky defender that got to the hoop a few times.
Jabryn Anderson (Sky Ice Elite)
The left handed guard impressed with his high activity level. Quick off the bounce. Got to the line a lot, but was streaky from there. Liked how he competed defensively. Hit a pair of corner threes. Had the play of the game stealing a pass and taking it the other way for the winning points.
Tim Taiwo (Chicago Demons)
Taiwo is built like a football player. At 6’2” with a strong and stocky built guard did a nice job defensively on NEBC’s top prospect who was significantly taller and a freak athlete. Used his physicality and moved his feet defensively. Most of his points came off his defense. The only jumper he made was the biggest of the game as he drilled a three in the last minute to give his team the lead.
Hayden Hoffman (Illinois Bears Moore)
Hoffman had the best game we have seen him against NEBC at The Finale. The 6’0” Carlyle point guard was lights out shooting the rock. Drilled four from beyond the arc off the catch. Can play some on the ball, but is most effective spotting up for threes. Had a smooth two dribble pull up as well.
Kolten Gajewski (Illinois Bears Parr)
Gajewski was the most consistent performer for the Bears Parr 16U team in the game we evaluated. Strong left handed small forward with size at 6’6”. Decent handles and was the best athlete on his squad. Scored on a cut through the lane he finished for an and-1 and hit a three. Solid rebounder.
Malaun Grayer (Young & Reckless)
The 6’4” Kenwood small forward has good length and versatility on the defensive end. Smooth athlete that can get to the charity stripe on drives and score off the bounce. Best basketball is ahead of him.
Vijay Wallace (Young & Reckless)
Wallace is a combo guard listed at only 6’1”, but plays much taller than that. He can really score whether it is in transition, give and go, runners, and even hit a corner three. Was effective as a defensive player as well. Like the upside of this Kenwood guard.
Jediah Jones (Chicago Magic)
This 6’7” center from Morgan Park was an unknown to us coming into the summer. He put himself on our radar with his play for the Chicago Magic. Projectable post with a long and lanky frame. Shot blocking presence inside and was a decent area rebounder.
Caleb Jenkins (RISE)
Jenkins is a 6’6” thick bodied five man from De La Salle who flashed nimble footwork around the hoop and was a quality area rebounder.
Nickolas Robinson (Old Gold)
The 6’5” Kenwood four man is a long and lanky post with projectability. His second jump was a huge factor in his production as he got on the offensive glass over and over again. Rim runner in transition, had a finish in the pick/roll, and took his man off the bounce from the mid-post.
