Kai McCullough | 6’3″ JR | East High School
McCullough is headed into his Junior season with the memory of a 25 point playoff performance that capped off his Sophomore season with East back in March. He’s a wing with the ability to spot up and hit catch-and-shoot threes when he’s not slicing into the lane and nailing acrobatic layups. With efficiency on 3’s and drives, paired with the ability to hit free-throws, it’s obvious he’ll continue to be a big part of East’s offense this season. He’s shown to have high motor on defense as well, which is influential when a player has size and athleticism like him.
Keenan Robertson | 6’5″ SR | Irondequoit
Robertson is a really fun player to watch on both sides of the ball. Offensively, while he has that long-distance shot in his arsenal, he’s definitely looking to attack first and foremost, and that’s definitely not a bad thing. He is crafty, quick-footed, and effective around the rim, with and without the ball. Off-ball, he’s able to consistently cut into space and make the most of his opportunities on cuts. There are many examples of him being able to finish lobs on back-door cuts. And after all of that, Robertson shows the ability to make quality kick-out passes both on drives and in transition. On defense, he has that fun, sneaky shot-blocking ability for a wing, which shows he has good defensive instincts and anticipation.
Myles Blackwood | 6’2″ JR | Aquinas Institute
Watch out for Blackwood to make a big jump this winter at Aquinas. Last season, you mainly saw him used as an athletic playmaker on both sides of the ball. On offense, he scored most of his points finishing on the fast break. But, he also often showed the ability to be productive outside and inside in a set-offense. Blackwood is a productive player in Aquinas’ defense, regularly making plays when he defends the ball. It certainly seems as though he will keep racking up the stats with increased opportunity.
