Continue ReadingWhile New Names is my favorite piece to write about during Ranking updates, the Stock Risers is a close 2nd as it allows me to talk about and feature some of the best performers during the past AAU season. The below guys boosted their stock during the Summer and several picked up new offers or commitments as a result. Take a look at the 2021 Class biggest Stock Risers.
Elhadji Thiam Elhadji Thiam 6'7" | PF Pickerington Central | 2021 State OH Pickerington Central (36 -> 24) Thiam has went from being a role player for the Tigers to potentially being their go-to player in the frontcourt this season. The 6’7 PF has a very high motor and is versatile on the offensive end. Can slash on the perimeter when given the opportunity or posts up strong and with a purpose. Good hands on entry passes. Currently holds offer from NJIT and Walsh.
Cliron Hornbeak Cliron Hornbeak 6'9" | C Toledo St. Francis | 2021 State OH Toledo St. Francis (58-> 25)- Hornbeak went from being a D2 level player in our eyes to showing why he is a LM target and ultimately why he committed to Kent State. The 6’9 Center is huge and mostly too strong to defend straight up. Really uses his size and strength to backdown defenders and create shot opportunities for himself. Finishes at a high level through contact. Defensively can defend the paint and has the quick footwork to defend on the perimeter. Bound for a breakout senior season.
Isaac Settles Isaac Settles 6'5" | SG Thomas Worthington | 2021 State OH Thomas Worthington (55 -> 36)- Settles is one of the better 2-way players not just in Central Ohio, but the state as well. He has the size at 6’5 and athleticism to defend guards and wings. He himself has shown he can score in doses off the drive and can create opportunities to score in the paint off the bounce. Extremely athletic SG waiting to receive his first offer.
Keaton Norris Keaton Norris 5'10" | PG Hilliard Bradley | 2021 State OH Hilliard Bradley (60 -> 38)- Wright State’s newest commit has shown why he is now a D1 player in our eyes after spending much time as one of our best available D2 prospects. First thing one notices on Norris is his ability to score from beyond the arc. The sharp shooter can score in a multitude of ways and gets his shot off clean and consistently. A proven floor general, Norris moves well without the ball and finds ways to get open while having the confidence to orchestrate the offense in a halfcourt setting.
Maceo Williams Maceo Williams 6'6" | C Gahanna | 2021 State OH Gahanna Lincoln (162 -> 48)- Williams went from being an unknown to us to becoming one of the state’s best available big men. The 6’6 Center is a persistent rebounder with a good feel for the game. Rolls hard to the bucket off screen-and-rolls and seals his man off to provide scoring opportunities. Has developed a midrange shooting game which allows Williams to step out when needed. Holds an offer currently from Ashland.
Kobe Rodgers Kobe Rodgers 6'3" | SG St. Xavier | 2021 State OH St. Xavier (133 -> 50)- Rodgers has evolved into a main target for D2s across the area. A tough 2G, Rodgers has some bounce to his game. Already a proven and willing defender, Rodgers has shown he is capable of being a focal point on the offensive end as well. Uses his speed off the drive to get in the paint where he is one of the better finishers I’ve seen this Summer. Extremely athletic and especially good on the offensive glass.
Kobe Mitchell Kobe Mitchell 6'3" | PG Harrison Central | 2021 State OH Harrison Central (135 -> 52)- Without a doubt one of the state’s biggest stock risers. Mitchell has shown us he is the real deal and is capable of playing college basketball. Originally concerned due to him facing smaller opponents in high school, Kobe impressed us with his vast offensive game against D1/D2 prospects this Summer. Can flat out shoot the ball once he gets hot. Great feel and touch around the rim. Picked up offers from Wisconsin-Green Bay and Walsh.
Gavin Foe Gavin Foe 6'2" | SG Johnstown | 2021 State OH Johnstown-Monroe (81 -> 56)- Foe has become one of the better defenders when it comes to jumping passing lanes and creating turnovers. High IQ and smart decision maker. Offensively can score in doses and has a ton of bounce.
Keyshawn Hall Keyshawn Hall 6'6" | PF Cleveland Heights | 2021 State OH Rhodes (151 -> 60)- Has evolved from a Center into more of a PF. Has the size to compete in the paint but has always shown me a willingness and comfortability on the perimeter. Hall gets downhill fast and is tough to defend once he finds the lane. Defends the perimeter just as well as the post. Very intriguing prospect.
Cody Lantz Shelby (147 -> 90)- Lantz has stepped up and now showing he can be a 2-way enforcer for Shelby this upcoming season. Active defender with his quick hands and well timed jumps. Offensively has the green light to shoot the ball and can hit from multiple areas on the floor. As he finesses his game on the offensive end, will have the chance to see his stock rise even more.
