One of those events, the Pangos All West Frosh/Soph Camp was held this weekend in Utah. The camp featured some of the top talent in the classes of 2023 and 2024 on the West Coast.
Here’s a look at some of the local Southern California players who participated in the camp.
1. Jeremiah Whitmore Jeremiah Whitmore 6'6" | PF Fountain Valley | 2023 CA-S – Corona Centennial 2023
Whitmore is very athletic and very strong. He has good length for a wing. Can finish strong around the rim. Long armed defensive player that contests shots in the paint. He can act as a shot blocker and alters many more shots. Good man to man defender and good help defender. Can get out and run in transition; handle the ball on the break. Good rebounder, active around the rim. Gets offensive put backs.
2. Xavier Edmonds Xavier Edmonds 6'8" | PF Bishop Montgomery | 2023 State #245 Nation CA-S – Bishop Montgomery 2023
Edmonds is another big man with a nice combination of size and skill. He can establish post position and he takes his time when making a move. He doesn’t rush with his back to the basket and he can finish at the rim. He can get his shot off against most defenders, and especially take advantage of smaller defenders in the paint. Strong on the glass.
3. Isaiah Elohim – Heritage Christian 2024
Elohim has a lot of potential as a scoring guard. He’s very quick off the dribble and can get to the rim with ease. He’s able to bump off defenders and finish the play. He can finish strong at the rim and has good body control to avoid defenders. He can absorb contact and get himself to the free-throw line. Looks like he has a bright future ahead as he enters his first year of high school basketball.
4. David Manea David Manea 6'6" | SF Orange Lutheran | 2023 CA-S – Beckman 2023
Manea has nice handles for a bigger player. He’s kind of a wing/post hybrid type player. He can play in post. He’s athletic and finishes well at the rim around contact. Can shoot from three-point range. Great court vision especially in half court; finds cutters and shooters. Can start a break off rebounding. Good midrange game. Can stop and pop and shoot off the dribble.
