Prep Hoops highlighted a lot of the top performers at the end of the summer.
But to make sure some of the top Wichita performers don’t go unnoticed, here is a look at some of the Wichita-area players who finished the summer strong (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):
Blake Danitschek Blake Danitschek 6'6" | SG Kapaun | 2021 State KS , Kansas Pray N Play, Kapaun:
Danitschek was a 3-point specialist for Pray N Play. The 5A honorable mention returner can get his shot off at almost any point thanks to his 6-foot-6 height advantage. When he gets going, he’s almost impossible to stop and he can knock down several threes in short order. He’s not a banger, but he’s strong and physical enough to be a presence in the paint. For his size, he can hold his own defending on the perimeter.
Kaleb Gaddis Kaleb Gaddis 6'1" | PG Andover | 2021 State KS , TBB KS – Gaddis 17U, Andover:
Gaddis is a versatile 6-foot-1 guard/wing. He has good ball handling skills, but on a club team loaded with guards, he filled a variety of roles. On a high school team with Jack Johnson Jack Johnson 6'2" | CG Andover | 2021 State KS , Jacob Hanna Jacob Hanna 6'3" | CG Andover | 2021 State KS and several other guard/wings, Gaddis will have to do some of everything. He’s adept at penetrating to dish to open teammates. He can also exploit holes in a defense by cutting without the ball. He’s a good distributor and heady on both offense and defense.
Taiden Hawkinson, Kansas Pray N Play, Buhler:
Hawkinson is a rugged 6-foot-1 wing who brings power and aggression to the game. He can drive with the ball and score in traffic. Contact doesn’t slow him down and he’ll complete the three-point play. He can shoot from the perimeter and is patient to wait for his opportunity. Hawkinson is a talented baseballer who is unselfish and gritty on the court.
Nick Hogan Nick Hogan 6'5" | SF Eisenhower | 2021 State KS , TBB KS – Gaddis 17U, Eisenhower:
A well-built 6-foot-5 post, Hogan can make some powerful moves around the rim. He has a pull-up jumper and mid-range shot, and nice touch from the free throw line. He isn’t afraid of contact and draws fouls. He also can take his game all the way out beyond the arc.
Alvinado Parker, Perry Ellis 34 17U, Life Prep:
Parker was a shifty and cat-quick complement to Christian Williams Christian Williams 6'2" | CG Trinity Academy Wichita | 2021 State KS in the PE 34 backcourt. The 5-foot-11 rising senior can take the ball full court through pressure and score, dish or draw fouls. On defense he’s scrappy and gets his hands on a lot of balls.
Parker Scott Parker Scott 6'1" | CG Maize South | 2021 State KS , TBB KS – Gaddis 17U, Maize South:
Scott is a slender perimeter player who can score from midrange and from beyond the arc. He can also occasionally knife through the lane to get to the goal. He can make some acrobatic shots on the drive, and he’ll also kick to an open shooter. At 6-foot-1, Scott can play various positions, and despite his thin frame, he’s tough.
